Quick Hits: 06/26

Here is some quick Mets news from June 26th:

  • Carlos Beltran played in his second rehab game, but this time he didn't play the field. Beltran went 2-3 with a double and a walk in the DH the role. Beltran was scheduled to DH after his first game of playing in center field.
  • Angel Pagan is sitting out his third straight game after leaving Wednesday game against the Detroit Tigers with spasms in his rib cage. Pagan says the decision not to play is the teams, not his.
  • Since rejoining the team, Bobby Parnell has thrown three innings of work. During which he has allowed one base runner on a walk, and has struck out six batters. With his help, the Mets bullpen has thrown 21 1/3 straight scoreless innings of work.
  • Last night, Mike Pelfrey became the 14th pitcher in Mets history to reach the 10 win mark in just 73 games. The last Mets pitcher to do this was Tom Glavine, who improve his record to 11-2 in game number 73 of the 2006 season.
  • Ruben Tejada is currently in a nine game hitting streak, the second longest by a rookie this season. Buster Posey has the longest, which is 10 games, which lasted from June 1st to June 11th.
  • After Roy Halladay defeated his old mates, Johan Santana will take on the Twins for the first time in his career. David Wright is excited to watch this saying, "It makes for interesting storylines. I’m excited to go see it. Still one of the coolest things from the outside looking in was Pedro (Martinez)’s return when we went back to Boston. I thought that was pretty cool.”
  • New Jersey Nets' first round pick Derrick Favors was in attendance for last night's game and watched batting practice.
  • The Mets haven't ruled out having Beltran back for the series against the Florida Marlins in Beltran's home country of Puerto Rico. The series will take place June 28th to June 30th. I feel like Beltran would love to play in that series, but it is way too soon of a return. Maybe he can just come down and be in the clubhouse for a game or two.
