- JOAQUIN ARIAS: The Mets acquired infielder Joaquin Arias last night from the Texas Rangers in exchange for outfielder Jeff Francoeur…Arias will wear uniform #12…Arias, 25, hit .276 (27-98) with five doubles, one triple, 18 runs scored and nine RBI in 50 games for Texas this season…The 6-1, 165-pound righthand-hitting infielder made starts at second base (16), first base (five) and shortstop (one) this season for the Rangers, making two errors in 121 total chances (.983 fielding percentage)…A career .286 hitter, Arias originally signed a non-drafted free agent contract with the New York Yankees on July 12, 2001…The Rangers acquired him on March 23, 2004 as the player to be named later in the deal that sent Alex Rodriguez to the Yankees.
- LUCAS DUDA: After last night’s game, the Mets selected the contract of outfielder Lucas Duda from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League…Duda will wear uniform #21…The Mets seventh round selection in the 2007 draft, split time during the 2010 campaign between Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League and Buffalo…In 114 games between the two stops, he hit .304 (129-424) with 74 runs scored, 40 doubles, 23 home runs and 87 RBI….Since his promotion to Buffalo in mid-June, he hit .314 (83-264) with 44 runs scored, 23 doubles, two triples, 17 home runs and 53 RBI in 70 games …The lefthanded-hitting Duda, 24, tied a Buffalo franchise record with a home run in five consecutive games from June 28-July 2.
- JENRRY MEJIA: New York also recalled righthanded pitcher Jenrry Mejia from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League after last night’s game…Mejia, 20, made 30 relief appearances with the Mets earlier this season, going 0-2 with a 3.25 ERA (10 earned runs/27.2 innings)…He allowed 29 hits, 15 walks and struck out 17 before being optioned to Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League on June 20…The 6-0, 162-pound righthander made six starts with Binghamton, going 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA (four earned runs/27.1 innings) allowing 19 hits with 14 walks and 26 strikeouts before being promoted to Buffalo on Saturday, August 28…In a no-decision on Monday, August 30 he made his lone appearance with the Bisons, tossing 8.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits while walking one and striking out nine against the Syracuse Sky Chiefs.

Tim Harkness’ two-run home run in the 16th-inning propels New York to a 6-4 win over the Braves at the Polo Grounds on September 1, 1963…Surprise starter Tug McGraw beats the Braves, 3-0, in a five-hit effort on September 1, 1974…It is McGraw’s first major league complete-game and final victory as a Met…Tom Seaver becomes the first pitcher to strikeout 200-or-more batters eight years in a row on September 1, 1975…Tom Terrific strikes out Pittsburgh’s Manny Sanguillen in the seventh inning for the record-breaking strikeout and receives a two-minute standing ovation from the Shea crowd…Seaver also earns his 20th victory of the season in that contest, a 3-0 triumph.
