Mets @ Phillies 4/5-4/7 Series Report Card

Written by Tyler M at 23:23 PM, April 7th, 2011

Series Report Cards grade certain Mets and aspects of the team for each series. Series Report Cards are written by Tyler M.

Well, not too many positives in this series, so lets get right into it.

Starters

Name Stats Grade
Chris Young
W, 5.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 7 K A-
Mike Pelfrey
ND, 2+ IP, 8 H, 7 R, 1 BB, 1 K F
Jon Niese
L, 4.1 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 1 BB, 7 K F
Mets Starters 1-1, 9.2 IP, 21 H, 14 R, 6 BB, 15K D

The Mets starting, other than Young, failed to impress me this weekend. They had a lot that needed to be done, and faltered. Pelfrey is lucky he got taken off the hook, but Niese wasn't as lucky. Overall, the starters get a D.

Key Hitters

Name Stats Grade
Jose Reyes 6-14, 2 R, 2 SB A
David Wright 7-14, 3 R, 3 RBI, 1 SB A
Carlos Beltran 1-7, 2 R, 1 RBI F
Ike Davis 4-12, 1 R, 3 RBI B
Angel Pagan 3-11, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2 SB C+
Team Batting (from above only) 21-58, 11 R, 9 RBI, 5 SB B

The offense, except the final game, caught me off guard this series. The Mets showed were very aggressive. More aggressive than I have seen in a while. The grade for the Key Batters is a B.

Bullpen (minimum of 2 IP)

Name Stats Grade
Tim Brydak 2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 K C+
D.J. Carrasco 2.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 K B+
Pedro Beato 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R B
Team Bullpen (from above only) 7.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 3 K B

The bullpen had its good moments and its bad moments. Overall, it was worthy of a B.
