In a game where leads are so crucial, the Mets had three leads, and an 8th inning rally, but failed to win. Mike Pelfrey blew 2 leads all by himself, and 1 lead with help from Ryota Igarashi. Jason Isringhausen made his first appearance of the year, getting the 2 outs he needed. Bobby Parnell faltered badly, and lost the game for the Mets.
David Wright had a home run and went 2-3 with 2 runs batted in. Jose Reyes went 2-5 with 2 triples. The last time he had 2 triples in 1 game was 2008. Willie Harris went 1-3 with a big 2-run double.
Brandon Lee:
Once again the Mets bullpen let's them down. Igarashi came in for Pelfrey in the sixth inning and gave up a bases loaded, broken bat duck fart to Carlos Gonzalez that got through the shift, which plated two runs. Igarashi made a good pitch and got what he wanted, the Mets just got unlucky. Then in the eighth, with Gonzalez up again, Parnell got him to hit a chopper back to the mound, but apparently Parnell can throw a ball 60 feet, but not 45 feet, and over threw the catcher and the ball went to the back stop.
Mets rallied, but again it they fell short.
