R.A. Dickey, RH (4-8, 3.80) |
Mike Leake, RH (8-5, 4.11) |
Scouting Report:
METS: Dickey started off slowly Tuesday against the Cardinals, giving up four runs in the first three innings, but settled down to pitch into the seventh. He struck out four and allowed one walk, helping the Mets to a comeback win.
REDS: Leake allowed just one run over six innings in his last start against the Pirates on Tuesday, but he took a hard-luck loss. It was the first time he'd allowed fewer than four earned runs in July.

Jonathon Niese, LH (9-8, 3.76) |
Johnny Cueto, RH (6-3, 1.98) |
Scouting Report:
METS: Niese was undermined by his defense in surrendering a pair of unearned runs July 21 against the Cardinals. Otherwise he was solid, giving up three earned in six innings. His seven strikeouts were tied for the second-most he's had all year.
REDS: Cueto allowed one run in six-plus innings Wednesday against the Pirates to earn his sixth victory. He has yet to allow more than three runs in a start this season and has notched 11 consecutive quality starts.
| Wednesday, July 27th, 7:10 PM EDT Great American Ball Park |
Mike Pelfrey, RH (5-9, 4.73) |
Bronson Arroyo, RH (7-8, 5.56) |
Scouting Report:
METS: Pelfrey was spotted three runs in the first inning, but earned a no-decision in his last start after surrendering four runs on five hits in six innings. He gave up two homers to bump his season total to 18 allowed. He's 2-5 over his last nine starts.
REDS: With a Major League-leading 29 home runs allowed this season, Arroyo has already matched his total for all of 2010. If he allows two more, he will have equaled his career high of 31, which he has done twice — in '06 and '09.
| Thursday, July 28th, 12:35 PM EDT Great American Ball Park |
Chris Capuano, LH (8-10, 4.26) |
Homer Bailey, RH (5-4, 3.67) |
Scouting Report:
METS: Spotted a two-run lead in the fifth inning in his most recent start, Capuano surrendered two homers and four runs in the sixth for the loss. He is 2-3 with a 4.85 ERA lifetime against the Reds (13 appearances)
REDS: Bailey had his back to the wall all day on Saturday against the Braves, but left seven on base through his first four innings. Able to reach down when he had to, Bailey gave up only two runs over six innings and earned the victory.
