- Walks – New York drew six walks yesterday and have 400 base-on-balls this year… The Mets are one of five major league teams with 400 or more walks: (Yankees-434, Red Sox-426, Rockies-401 and St. Louis-400).

- Jason Bay – Reached base safely in all five plate appearances yesterday with three singles and two walks… It’s the second time this year Bay has reached safely in five plate appearances, also on June 29 at Detroit… Bay extended his hitting streak to nine games with a second-inning single… He’s hitting .457 (16-35) during this stretch… Bay hit .500 (6-12) with four runs scored, one double, one home run and three RBI in the three-game series vs. the Braves…. Bay has 11 RBI in his last 13 contests…. Bay’s next home run will be the 200th of his career… Only two other Canadians have hit 200 or more home runs in the major leagues… Larry Walker (383) and Matt Stairs (265).
- Ruben Tejada – Will be recalled from Buffalo (AAA) of the International League prior to tonight’s game…Tejada, who was with the Mets earlier this from May 17-July 20, will wear #11… He’s hitting .250 (42-168) with 19 RBI in 52 games with the Mets… Tejada hit .193 (11-57) in 15 games with the Bisons from July 21-August 6.
- Bullpen – The pen has allowed at least one run in nine of its last 10 games… During that period, the pen has a 4.94 ERA (17 ER/31.0 IP)…. Suffered losses in three straight games for the 2nd time this year from 7.31-8.2…The pen has lost 4 of last 5 games – all of those in their last at bat…. The pen has allowed 35 home runs, tied for the 9th most in the majors.
- Mike Pelfrey – In five career games, all starts, Pelfrey is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA (10 earned runs/34.2 innings pitched) vs. San Diego….. In his last start, Pelfrey received the no-decision in a 7-3 loss vs. the Marlins on August 1… Tossed 6.0 innings and allowed three runs, two earned… Also allowed six hits and three walks, one intentional… Recorded three strikeouts while throwing 119 pitches, 74 for strikes… The 119 pitches are the second most he has thrown this season.
- Zach Wheeler – Earned his first win as a member of the Mets organization last night…He tossed 6.0 shutout innings for St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League allowing four hits with no walks and seven strikeouts at Charlotte…Wheeler was acquired from the Giants for Carlos Beltran.
