Series Preview: Mets vs. Braves (08/26 ~ 08/28)

Written by Drucifer at 16:16 PM, August 26th, 2011

Atlanta Braves

@

New York Mets

Citi Field
Citi Field

Friday, 26th August, 7:10 PM EDT
Citi Field

Tim Hudson, RH (13-7, 3.01)

Chris Capuano, LH (9-11, 4.71)

Scouting Report:

BRAVES: Hudson has gone 8-1 with a 1.91 ERA and limited opponents to a .201 batting average in his past 12 starts. He started August limiting the Mets to one run in seven innings at Citi Field. He has worked into the eighth in two of his past three starts.

METS: Capuano has allowed at least four earned runs in six of his past seven starts, and surrendered three homers in his last outing on Aug. 20 against the Brewers. He's 2-3 with a 3.35 ERA in his career against Atlanta.

Saturday, 27th August, 4:10 PM EDT
Citi Field

Jair Jurrjens, RH (13-5, 2.71)

R.A. Dickey, RH (5-11, 3.72)

Scouting Report:

BRAVES: Jurrjens escaped numerous jams while allowing eight hits and five walks in 6 1/3 scoreless innings Monday against the Cubs. The outing was still a confidence booster for the All-Star, who had posted a 6.52 ERA in his previous five starts.

METS: An unfortunate trend continued for Dickey against the Brewers, when he pitched well enough to win but got only a no-decision. The knuckleballer has not won any of his last five outings, despite logging quality starts in each of them.

Sunday, 28th August, 1:10 PM EDT
Citi Field

Mike Minor, LH (4-2, 4.37)

Dillon Dillon Gee, RH (11-5, 4.37)

Scouting Report:

BRAVES: Minor has grown comfortable with his changeup and created optimism while winning each of his three decisions this month. He's endured struggles in the fifth and sixth innings, but proven more consistent than he was during the season's early months.

METS: Coming off one of his most uplifting starts of the second half, Gee submitted his worst outing of the season last Monday in Philadelphia, allowing eight runs over 3 2/3 innings. Gee is, however, unbeaten this season in four starts against the Braves.
