@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:42)

The guy gets more hatable all the time

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:42)

I will throw in with my own :fbomb: chase utley though

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:41)

Although the slow cooker makes me hungry

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:40)

It might be more mature with the development but still they're paving over land constantly still and shoving things in where they shouldn't be

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:40)

Gotta tell you, overdevelopment is still going on here

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:28)

Oh, and :fbomb: Chase Utley.

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:19)

Oh man, I miss Manhattan.

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:18)

OK, I made the part about the slow cooker up.

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:17)

One of the biggest parts of the problem is the non-stop development of the area. When you think of the Bos-Wash corridor, it is all already developed. Down here, there is almost endless land to build on. And build they do, without much thought of how it will affect the region (what, who cares about anything except making a buck). So the area gets paved over, housing developments, strip malls, shopping centers and such built over formerly undeveloped land. It is done at a frantic pace. Well, all the water that normally went into the ground has to go somewhere. Couple all that with a clay-rich soil and a high water table (heated in a slow cooker for 6 hours on low) and you have the perfect recipe for flooding. It won't get better.

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:14)

At least it's not a regular thing, but still that's not easy nwo

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:12)

Makes sense

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:09)

But so far this year, it has been ridiculously raining. And when it rains further north, the water flows down through this area on it's way through to the ocean. So when you add torrential rain to extremely high runoff and a saturated ground, you get flooding.

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:06)

Normally, not so much flooding. Or rather, if we do, it is south of Houston, from a tropical storm (Gulf Coast). Has only gotten this far north once since I've been here (fittingly enough it was April Fool's Day 2002).

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:05)

I believe that about the car, how much can you drive around with the windows down?

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:04)

That's a tough place weather-wise, insanely hot but with flooding thrown in

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:04)

And yes, it gets hot here (but nothing compared to Arizona & New Mexico). But everything here is well air conditioned. When my brother relocated here aroung 1980/81, he had an old beater car (I think a Ford Pinto). Car didn't have A/C. When he tried to sell it, he couldn't. Had to get A/C installed to sell the damn thing.

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 10:03)

There always seems to be flooding down there

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 10:00)

Live in Spring, TX, a suburb just northwest of Houston. Mailing address is Houston. Wife works about 10 miles further north.

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 09:59)

The place my wife works called yesterday evening, and asked if she could come in a half shift early at 3 AM. She had to turn around and come back, couldn't get there. I took her in at 7 AM after finding an alternate round-the-way route open. Several of her coworkers stayed at the facility overnight, unable to get home.

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 09:58)

I was down there once. It was hot.

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 09:57)

Wait, you're in Houston mjjm?

@  thomasam : (28 May 2016 - 09:57)

I will admit that I turned the TV over to wife's choice going into the top of the 9th last night and then just "checked back" in time (luckily) to see the Granderson homer

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 09:57)

The flooding down here in Houston is crazy. While the area where our house is located is fine, there are multiple road closures near us.

@  mjjm367 : (28 May 2016 - 08:20)

Good morning Gentlemen. :fbomb: Chase Utley.

@  abat : (28 May 2016 - 03:29)

Well a good win if not a great Familia performance

@  Canada Mets Fan : (27 May 2016 - 21:41)

I also hate Rollins but at least he's doing his annoying act in the AL.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (27 May 2016 - 21:40)

Took a look on Sportscenter earlier and it was 5-1. What happened? :fbomb: Utley.

@  Drucifer : (27 May 2016 - 21:39)

;bxup;

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:25)

At least if you throw one way inside, you keep him thinking. :fbomb: Chase Utley.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:23)

Yeah, Utley needs to go down, and go down HARD. :fbomb: Utley.

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:19)

Fortunately, Granderson got us the win. And Utley is too damn comfortable in the box. Even if we don't hit him, make him get his ass on the dirt. :fbomb: Chase Utley.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:16)

Disagree, mj. The closer's mindset is an important part of his makeup. He comes in with the game on the line. Four run lead is no pressure, and Familia has not fared well in non-save situations historically. Wrong move to make, and fortunately it did not bite us in the ass this time. :fbomb: Utley.

@  Drucifer : (27 May 2016 - 21:16)

And :Granderson: to the rescue :walkoff: ;hr; - :books:

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:15)

Turns what would have been a devastating loss into a tie for 1st place.

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:14)

The Grandyman can!!!!!!

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:14)

THE GRANDY MAN!!!!

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:10)

Familia has to get 3 outs before he gives up 4 runs. It is just an excuse that "It's not a save situation". Get three outs.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:08)

Like I said I absolutely :fbomb: HATE bringing in Familia in this situation, HATE it. Always have, always will. :fbomb: :fbomb: CHASE UTLEY.

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:07)

And now, it truly is :fbomb: Chase Utley time. Turn that bitch into a game ender.

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:05)

Cabrera talking to Familia. "Just let him hit it to me. I got this."

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:03)

And that was strike three. :fbomb: Utley.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:03)

That was ball three. :fbomb: Utley.

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 21:03)

So if Reed pitched the 9th and gave up a lead off homer, then Familia would come in and be suddenly more effective? :fbomb: Chase Utley.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 21:01)

It's not a matter of "locking down the win", Jeurys is not good in these situations, and you burn him out potentially for tomorrow. As we can see right now. :fbomb: Utley.

@  mjjm367 : (27 May 2016 - 20:58)

Don't you want to lock down a win? Especially with Kershaw pitching Sunday. And :fbomb: Chase Utley.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 20:55)

Terry bringing Jeurys in games with no save situation drives me bat shit crazy. :fbomb: Utley.

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 20:46)

:fbomb: Utley...

@  brian stark : (27 May 2016 - 20:46)

It's nice that David got the homer tonight, but he has two strikeouts, too. At his current pace, assuming he plays in 135 games he would strike out 201 times. He's not going to hit as many homers as a Reynolds or Dunn, so that many Ks is unacceptable.
