Conforto was projecting 25 Hrs and he is 23 with more power likely. Nimmo may/may not develop power but Alex Gordon and Markakis, both 1st rnd. picks have put together good careers without major power. I doubt that Lags will be a double digit Hr. guy, but his glove up the middle and his OBP make up for the lack of power. Sorry to offend but Cabrera is the only IF carry over, C, 1B, 2B and 3B all need to be replaced or upgraded. Duda has one year of arb. left, but 9M is too much for a injury prone streaky player...maybe TdA can play 1B. Walker will be 31 and resigning him is no upside...just risk. Flores doesn't have the power for a C-IF and has been exposed by overplaying him in the past. Doesn't mean that Flores can't be a player with 1B, 2B and 3B value.

yog, in reference to the MC/Lags/Nimmo outfield... IF they can produce, I think at least defensively that would be fine. No power to speak of, and no real speed. Conforto MIGHT be the best of the bunch, provided he gets his head back on straight (which I think he will). Nimmo could be the OBP guy, provided his minor league stats translate, but that is a HUGE question mark. Lagares is the only relatively "sure" one of the bunch. I think he would be a .280/10-15/75 guy if fully healthy and playing every day eventually. The infield is where it will get interesting very soon.

I'll repeat my Qs:

  • Last night was :harvey: 's 10th lost - will he lose 20?
  • Are ;mets; :fans: seeing a repeat of Generation K?

:goodday:

@  yogib8 : (29 Jun 2016 - 12:31)

Outstanding response snark, much improved over your usual na nana na nah. All that aside, what do you think of Conforto-Lags-Nimmo as the OF of the future after we dump Grady and trade Pusdeses

@  brian stark : (29 Jun 2016 - 11:24)

I saw it clear as day, I guess you could not see mine for your OWN hatred...

@  yogib8 : (29 Jun 2016 - 11:19)

Didn't see the intended humor....hate is blinding

@  brian stark : (29 Jun 2016 - 11:06)

Better OF that Murphy? Hell, a potted Ficus is a better OF than Murph, that's not saying much...

@  yogib8 : (29 Jun 2016 - 10:38)

Hear ye, hear ye; from this place and in this time after considerable examination and thought... I declare that Nimmo is the new Murphy. Sweet swing, uncanny instincts and actually a better OF. This is the dawning of the Conforto-Lagares-Nimmo OF

We are back with GOEDDEL on the mound.

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:45)

and nobody is cheating Colon out of his buffet

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:44)

and maybe they should not bunt so much either

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:43)

CUbs, Giants and Nats all have 161+ At Bats from their pitchers, Giants pitchers have 20 RBI, CUbs 18, Cards have 14 RBI...Mets only have 10

@  yogib8 : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:43)

Maybe they should go longer that 5.2 IP before hitting the buffet

@  Drucifer : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:42)

Well I'm back with my dinner.

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:41)

5 doubles, 3 Homeruns and 1 triple isn't too bad for the pitchers...only problem is, TC doesn't let them hit enough...they only had 130 at bats prior to tonight (only teams lower had 121 and 122 at bats from their pitchers)...

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:39)

it's kind of funny that he's pretty much hit them 9th all season...we've got the worst hitting catchers in the league, and he's hit pitchers 8th in previous seasons

@  yogib8 : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:26)

damn TC should have the SP hitting in the middle of the order

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:17)

quote: (yogi) The Mets are the worst hitting team in the Majors ....they don't hit a lot of pitchers

however, their pitching staff has the 2nd highest slugging percentage among pitching staffs http://espn.go.com/m...gAvg/order/true

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:12)

have a good night Brian

@  brian stark : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:11)

Rain means I'll watch the rest tomorrow. Have a great evening, fellas!

@  yogib8 : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:10)

how are we not hitting this pitcher?

The Mets are the worst hitting team in the Majors ....they don't hit a lot of pitchers

@  Drucifer : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:06)

I'm going to the kitchen to cook/

@  yogib8 : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:03)

The RF line at the Polo Grounds was about 260 and LF wasn't much deeper

@  Mets4Life : (28 Jun 2016 - 20:02)

how are we not hitting this pitcher?

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:53)

whereas nobody else (other than the Red Sox and Yanks) could continue to cheat

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:52)

I either read or heard a story recently where Charley Finley was so upset about how short the Yankme stadium RF fence was, with the overhang only about 280 feet away from HP...that he build his own overhang in Kansas City that matched the same distance as the Yanks...however the Commish wouldn't allow him to use it, and then set up a "grandfather'ed" rule that the minimum OF distance had to be at least 300 feet...Grandfather'ed meaning that he allowed the Yanks to cheat

@  Drucifer : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:50)

He went from one of the smallest RF to the largest RF. While RF has shrunk in recent years, so has his range.

@  Drucifer : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:49)

OF is a simple two-step position. Catch it and throw it. Now catching is all important, and if you can't catch a fly you should note be in the OF.

@  yogib8 : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:45)

Maybe they don't know that playing RF in Yankee Stadium is not really playing RF

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:44)

a CATCHER scored from 1st on a double to him...it's not like it was an OFer or a middle infielder scoring on one down the line...it was right behind him, and it was a fat slow guy running

@  Saxon : (28 Jun 2016 - 19:43)

(in response to yogi)...but his arm will still hurt you less in LF than it will in RF or CF...
