Almost have my PC fully back. Just one thing. I lost my firefox bookmarks bar that I had on the bottom of screen. Right now I'm force to use FF dropdown menu.

@  mjjm367 : (06 Feb 2016 - 20:38)

Puello signed by the Yankees to a minor league deal.

@  Drucifer : (06 Feb 2016 - 15:18)

WellI havw eaten and gotten my mouse to work and I'm usin my PC to type this - so I'm making steady progress, but I'll keep going after nap time.

@  brian stark : (06 Feb 2016 - 14:02)

I'm more of a UVa fan than Duke, but other than when they play UVa, I pull for Duke. I'm in NC, and everyone is either a UNC or NCState fan, so to piss people off, I'm a contrarian. Additionally, virtually EVERY member of my family (Mother's side) went to UNC, so I have to hear about how great they are (my cousin named her oldest daughter Caroline, and her son Dean.) Trust me, if you think DUKE is arrogant, you should deal with UNC fans/alumni.

@  Drucifer : (06 Feb 2016 - 13:51)

Damn, I'm starving.

@  yogib8 : (05 Feb 2016 - 15:13)

Going back further than most of you, I identify 3 dynasties in NCAA basketball.
1. 1962-81 UCLA made the tourney all 20 seasons. They reached 19 Sweet Sixteens and 14 Final Fours and won 10 NCAAs. John Wooden oversaw 14 of those season with three others covering the final 6 seasons.

2. 1975-2001 UNC made the tourney in all 30 seasons (26 under Dean Smith). They reached 19 Sweet Sixteens and 9 FFs and won 4 NCAAs

3. 1984-2005 Duke, led by Coach K has missed one tourney in 32 seasons. Reached 24 SS and 12 FF and won 5 NCAAs.

I used the Sweet Sixteen and Final Four as benchmarks, because that is the goal of the first two weekends of the tourney.

All three teams were led by a dynamic head coach who established a winning tradition which made getting the best recruits in the nation easy. Minus that coach the teams success slowed down opening the door for the next dynasty to take root.

Kentucky with back to back FFs might be that next team waiting for Coach K to take the gold watch.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (05 Feb 2016 - 11:04)

thomas, I understand a lot of people hate Duke. I came to be a fan back in the days of Laettner, Hurley, Hill, etc when they made it to the championship game as a big underdog against UNLV and were blown off the court but came back the next year to shock UNLV, who figured they'd steamroll Duke again. I enjoyed their unselfish play and how they took Tarkanian, LJ and Co. down a few notches in that Final. Been a fan ever since.

@  thomasam : (05 Feb 2016 - 10:40)

but hey to each his own

@  thomasam : (05 Feb 2016 - 10:39)

the team always on TV, always winning and always arrogant

@  thomasam : (05 Feb 2016 - 10:39)

man really? It's like the yankees of college basketball

@  Canada Mets Fan : (04 Feb 2016 - 21:14)

Now you're talking, bs. (Duke, I mean).

@  brian stark : (04 Feb 2016 - 18:28)

Sorry, thomas. Duke fan here. (and Virginia)

@  thomasam : (04 Feb 2016 - 18:14)

Yup Yogi, you and I are of the same mindset there. Going to college games is also always full of energy compared to other sports. Both of my alma maters had fired up crowds and Hall games are always great (even when the team often isn't)

@  thomasam : (04 Feb 2016 - 18:13)

tourney-wise at least, the 12/5 games, the 13/4 games. I take off those first two days every year and will again. This is the best sports time of year with the conference games, tourney and spring training and the promise of the baseball season coming (along with the fantasy auction days which are among the best days of every year)

@  thomasam : (04 Feb 2016 - 18:12)

I'm a bigger fan of the upset

@  thomasam : (04 Feb 2016 - 18:12)

ugh, very far from a duke fan and definitely anti-laettner but I get the thrill of that game

@  thomasam : (04 Feb 2016 - 18:11)

I don't like the NBA much, but I love college ball and go to several Seton Hall games a year (my father was a graduate and we grew up immersed). I'm a huge big east fan as well

@  Jambo : (04 Feb 2016 - 17:55)

Booked to come over from UK in September to see the Mets, can't wait

@  brian stark : (04 Feb 2016 - 14:35)

I think that time period is the best of the year. inal couple of rounds of the NCAA tourny, Masters golf, Baseball opening day, all around the same time. Perfect way to kick off a sports year.

@  yogib8 : (04 Feb 2016 - 12:50)

I still fill out the two brackets that I have been in for up to 30 +years. Several years ago on another forum I created The Bragginrights Brackets which never got traction even though I opened it from the one forum to include my fantasy leagues. Last season I didn't run it, ending FANG's winning streak at two.

Thomasam is right about the NCAA losing some steam, but just as he does now, takes off from work the Thurs and Fri of the NCAA opening games, I was doing back in the eighties glued to the Big East with Carnesecca and Chris Mullin chasing a ticket to the dance.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (04 Feb 2016 - 12:06)

yogi, I remember where I was when I watched that Duke/Kentucky game. One of the best sporting events I have ever seen, can't imagine how it was in person. Laettner was unbelievable that night, never missed a shot from the floor or the line. I hated the year they lost to UNLV but it made the next year all the sweeter.

@  METS FANG : (04 Feb 2016 - 11:40)

This i will agree with. The NCAA tournament, one game/winner take all format, nothing like it and MUCH more exciting than anything else in the world of basketball.

@  yogib8 : (04 Feb 2016 - 11:39)

There is nothing in sports like the period starting with the Conference Tournaments through the NCAA Championships. A plethra of games each day and almost every one is a win or go home. What ramps this up is few of these games are dull mismatches, most go down to the final minutes and every once in a while you get a game like Duke/Kentucky and Christian Laettner.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (04 Feb 2016 - 10:46)

I used to be a huge fan of college basketball, followed Duke religiously when I was in university but my interest has really waned. Used to love the NCAA tourney, filled out many brackets over the years. And I just find the NBA boring to watch.

@  brian stark : (04 Feb 2016 - 10:44)

I watch some basketball, well Atlantic Coast Conference basketball, at least. I can't really get into NBA or most college ball. ACC keeps me going until Spring starts...

@  METS FANG : (04 Feb 2016 - 10:32)

Personally I don't find it entertaining. Followed as a kid because my dad followed, so have a full understanding of the game in front of me. Its just boring. And I don't mean soccer boring, which is slow slow slow BANG adrenaline boost. Its just monotonous... (IMO of course)

@  thomasam : (04 Feb 2016 - 09:11)

I'm kind of surprised there are few basketball fans among the board regulars

@  brian stark : (03 Feb 2016 - 20:45)

Great moves. No reason to raise any animosity if at all possible.

@  mjjm367 : (03 Feb 2016 - 20:19)

Mets & Familia avoid arbitration with a $4.1M deal. The Mets have now settled all of their arbitration cases without going to a hearing.

@  brian stark : (03 Feb 2016 - 19:35)

Well, like I quoted earlier, Cam was the most effective pocket passer in the NFL last year, and the rushing offense was second best in the league. I think that if the OLine was ordinary, the numbers would reflect that.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (03 Feb 2016 - 19:05)

I'll defer to you on this, bs. As I said, that was some 'analysis' I read on SI, or ESPN.

@  brian stark : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:40)

A. I was wondering there for a second, FANG if there was a celiac issue going on there. B. Trust me, fellas, I've watched every second of every Panther game from preseason on for years now. Their O-Line is much better than ordinary.

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:31)

damn auto correct, glutton!

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:30)

usually around this time, i get antsy, and the comment is "I know its a world of pain, but I'm too gluten not to be excited!" NO SUCH COMMENT THIS YEAR!

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:29)

same!

@  Drucifer : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:26)

Oh man! I'm antsy for the start of ST!

@  Canada Mets Fan : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:24)

Agreed. If he breaks containment and they can't get pressire, hurries, sacks or even some knockdowns, it's going to be a looong day.

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:22)

where this fails is that Cam isn't looking for the big bomb play (so this eliminates cover corner advantage) and that Cam can use defense aggressiveness against them. I see him breaking containment, giving Olson a big day and Cam having a monster day on the ground

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 18:21)

i agree - denver defense is plain nasty. their biggest advantage is they are ball hawks, and this allows their players in the box to be aggressive

@  Canada Mets Fan : (03 Feb 2016 - 16:08)

And Fang, thev Denver defensechas been the best in the league or near the best in the league, all season. Very good up front, solid in the LBs and great in the secondary. Wade Philips may not be a head coach but has proven to be a damn good defensive coordinator.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (03 Feb 2016 - 16:06)

I have no doubt on Cam's productivity but the articles I read on the Panthers (not knowing much about them), stated that the o-line was ordinary. Will see if I can find it. Peyton's arm strength is gone, even the intermediate throws wobble like a wounded duck.

@  brian stark : (03 Feb 2016 - 15:05)

And CMF, that is an incorrect analysis. If the Panthers have a weakness, it's the secondary. The O-Line has been great all season, Cam has been the most productive pocket passer in the league this year (not making that up, ESPN had that in an article). The D-Line is hefty and the Linebackers are excellent, but outside of Norman the secondary has been ravaged lately by injury. IF you can get enough time, the Panthers can be beaten deep. However, I don't think Peyton has the arm strength to do that any more.

@  brian stark : (03 Feb 2016 - 15:03)

I have no quarrel with Peyton, I've said several times that IF the Panthers are to lose, I would rather see them lose to a Peyton-led team than ANY other team. That said, I hope he is the one dejected after the game is over.

@  yogib8 : (03 Feb 2016 - 14:36)

sorry CMF - No worry, no offense taken - No offense to BS

Cam- hope to see you sitting on the bench crying in the 4th Q. No offense intended.

@  yogib8 : (03 Feb 2016 - 14:28)

sorry CMF

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 14:27)

you're a far bigger expert on denver offense than I am, but Peyton looked pretty solid so far between week 17 and the playoffs. Maybe his time off really helped. I think he'll keep up better than you give credit for. As I said. I bet the over for a reason. I expect both side should be able to score. I just happen to believe Carolina will score... more

@  Canada Mets Fan : (03 Feb 2016 - 13:55)

No worry, no offense taken. I don't see Peyton keeping up on the scoreboard. Age has just caught up to him, happens to everyone. For most of the season I'd be afraid to watch as I expected he'd take a sack and would be seriously hurt. And you're right, Cam's legs are a different animal than Brady, but I hope the defensive line can be disruptive all day. No offense to BS but if Carolina has a weakness, it's probably the O line.

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 13:41)

only problem with the giants/pats example is that Brady can't do with his legs what Cam can. So the giants by disrputing Brady in the backfield ruined his ability to succeed. I don't see the Broncos being able to control Cam that same way. They'll have to keep up in the score (which is entirely possible)

@  METS FANG : (03 Feb 2016 - 13:39)

sorry CMF, i missed that we had a Denver fan among us, didn't mean to post against your team - was thinking with exception of BS we were all pretty neutral.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (03 Feb 2016 - 12:28)

I'm hoping the game plays out like the last two Pats-Giants SBs. I have to cling to something as a Denver fan...
