OK, now it's brunch time.

His 2015 OPS was .725 facing LHP and .888 vs RHP at Bingo. With expected regression making the jump from AA into a run for the playoffs what would you have TC do...waste ABs by putting Conforto into circumstances stacked against him. This was not 2011-14 when development trumped winning. Conforto is hitting .241 with an OPS of .761 against RHP this season and hitting .275 and an OPS of .872. He has either regressed which has nothing to do with facing LHP or he was riding a hot streak last year. But considering that Conforto in his first trip to AAA this season dominated, came back and got his lunch eaten by ML pitching. You need a scape goat ...how about promoting him from AA before he was finished baking.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:38)

Last season was the closest he's come to an everyday balance

and he went from getting close 100 PA's in May and June per month...to about 85 PA's in August...and 55 PA's in September...and wouldn't have smelled the playoffs if Utley didn't injure TC's pet

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:26)

And now for some brunch.

and we got to the WS with him playing every day in the playoffs...I just think that it's wrong to do that to a young player that has hit both RHP and LHP well in the minors...they aren't going to develop if you cherry pick when they play...most other organizations play their young players vs both righties/lefties...

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:05)

Last season was the closest he's come to an everyday balance when he hit .263/.295/.408 which broke down to .310/.355/.600 vs LHP and .251/.279/.358 facing RHP. His ratio of PA against RHP:LHP was 4:1 close to what would be expected.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 12:56)

just as TC helped turn Conforto into a crappy hitter vs LHP because when he first came up, he wasn't allowed to face LHP

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 12:53)

I think Flo's biggest enemy is TC's inconsistent playing of him...when Tejada was here, Flo had to "earn" playing time and didn't consistently face LHP because Tejada could hit LHP...this season, he's gotten playing time mostly because we've had guys like Duda/Loney that suck against LHP but are adequate vs RHP

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 12:51)

I can't see Flores as an everyday player when he is inconsistent at the plate. Two years ago he hit .119/.212/.169/.381 against LHP, his OPS was .749 against RHP. Today is backwards, he is hitting .344/.333/1.000/1.333 against the lefties and the RHP OPS is .606.

:goodday:

@  Mr. Magoo : (27 Aug 2016 - 10:33)

Wilmer's bat has come around, but right now, he's still not an .850+ OPS bat over a full season like Duda. I think the thing to do right now is have him play all IF positions this year, and move to 2B in 2017. If he shows he's got the bat to play at the corner next year, Duda becomes a trade chip who will have time to up his value. My ideal IF next year is Duda/Smith (1B), Cabrera (2B), Reyes (SS), and Flores (3B).

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 09:02)

IMO, until Dom Smith is ready, Wilmer should be the principle 1st baseman but spelling the other IF positions when a guy needs some time off...

@  brian stark : (27 Aug 2016 - 06:11)

I was talking more long-term on moving Wilmer around, although Reyes and Cabrera HAVE had injury concerns this year and Walker has a new kid and will be exhausted (kidding)...

@  Jambo : (27 Aug 2016 - 05:39)

Nice to see Mets in some kind of form

@  abat : (27 Aug 2016 - 03:59)

Nice to see Wilmer succeeding

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:34)

thing is...Reyes/Cabrera/Walker are all switch hitters that are well rested (all have missed a decent amount of time recently) and are key to making it to the playoffs...they don't need much time off...but Wilmer needs to play...and maybe if he got a chance to play 1st most days, then nobody would be talking about his defense...he's good enough defensively to play 1B on a daily basis...

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:16)

With an infield of Reyes/Cabrera/Walker/Loney you can rotate Wilmer around, give each a day off each week, and everyone stays sharp while Flores' bat stays in the lineup.

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:15)

FREE WILMER!

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:13)

prior to tonight's game, Wilmer since June 3rd: .291/.339/.508/.847...12 HRs, 7 doubles, 38 RBI in 199 At Bats http://www.baseball-...atting_gamelogs

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:09)

Marlins losing, Pirates winning, Cardinals winning, Dodgers and Giants haven't started yet...

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:08)

Loney was hot when he first got here...but he's got a .507 OPS in August...time to let Wilmer play every day at first, and then maybe bring in Loney for late inning defense

@  Drucifer : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:07)

:bks:

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:06)

most of them at least reach the original wall, even if they would have been doubles with the original wall

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:05)

and rarely ever do Wilmer's HRs just barely clear the Wright Wall in LF

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:05)

it's kind of funny, DW has always struggled with the power at Citi Field...Flores has 11 of his 14 Homeruns in Citi Field this season

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 21:03)

I don't like this.

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:53)

Do NOT bring in Familia tonight unless it's a save situation. Terry, you KNOW Familia does not do well in non-save situations...

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:52)

The kid can hit, just needs to work on the glove.

@  Mr. Magoo : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:22)

Flores looks like he's turning into a legit power hitter. He's got 14 in his 89th game. Actually he's got 15, but had one taken away by a terrible replay call.

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:12)

Colon at 90 pitches, should get one more inning.

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:08)

he's not exactly Cookie Rojas

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:07)

Teufel might be the dumbest 3rd base coach that the Mets have had in knowing the speed of his runners versus the OFer's arms/depth...

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:07)

Didn't cost us too much, though...

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:02)

Nice play from the Phils there, don't know how smart it was to send dA, though...

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 20:00)

Colon should be the starting CF, he's on fire...

@  Canada Mets Fan : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:49)

He made a great pick last night on a hot shot and threw a pea to 2nd.

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:48)

and the funny thing about Collins/Wilmer...now Wilmer is killing LHP, but when Tejada was here, Wilmer sat so Tejada could face the LHP to inflate his batting average

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:47)

don't even know what 1/2 inning just got done on my roku, but I like what I see from Reyes defensively in the past several days

@  Canada Mets Fan : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:47)

How can Collins continue to ignore Wilmer??

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:46)

I just saw Reyes catch the liner over his head behind 2nd...IMO, he's already a better 3rd baseman than DW

@  Drucifer : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:46)

:BigSexy: was the fist ;double;

@  brian stark : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:45)

Colon hit the first double, and Reyes' was a popup just over by the line.the 2B glove

@  Saxon : (26 Aug 2016 - 19:44)

I'm not caught up but...espn.com is showing that the Mets started the current inning with back to back doubles, but we haven't scored? how?
