I have one rule - don't insult, attack another member in any manner. you can attack what they post about, but it must be done w/o personal insults. Anyone that thinks this one rule does not apply to them, please leave.

Dru - I'm still waiting for a response in our PM conversation

@  Mr. Magoo : (27 Aug 2016 - 21:02)

After tonight, the Mets will finally have more runs scored than runs allowed. It is amazing to me that they've been so bad offensively, but look like they've finally turned the corner.

@  Mr. Magoo : (27 Aug 2016 - 20:47)

And Jose Reyes is still an elite level bat. All the talk about him being done...he was just miserable.

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 20:46)

I wish the Phillies were still good as winning like this would make me feel even better!

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 20:45)

Yep, this is how you're suppose to beat the teams below you.

@  Mr. Magoo : (27 Aug 2016 - 20:44)

Kelly Johnson has been :fbomb: amazing this year. What a tremendous pick up.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 20:07)

how is Bruce ever going to get on track if he's surrounded in the lineup by Loney, DeAza, Grandy and a catcher?

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:51)

I really wonder what scout actually thought that DW's arm translated into a 3B at the MLB level...nothing wrong with his fielding, but he's always had a TJ Rivera arm, at best

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:50)

imagine if DW ever had the arm that Reyes has...

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:50)

funny thing is, that pitch for the 3 run HR was a ball, about a foot inside off of the plate

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:47)

nice...leave the room to make tea & get a cinimoun roll and 3 runs score

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:46)

Took him long enough at that at bat!

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:45)

OK

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:44)

2 run HR followed by 2 walks...the PC probably told him: don't worry the next 4 batters aren't even AAAA worthy, you are ok until you get to the pitcher

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 19:43)

wow, our 5-8 vs a RHP sucks so bad...

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:48)

Phillies have a more than a couple of guys that can steal a base

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:39)

With a RHP on the mound, Flores has no claim to bump anyone

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:38)

and if you are TC's closer, you better be prepared to pitch with a 5 run lead

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:38)

TC's philosophy: if you are over 32, you play until you go on the DL; if you are under 25, you better beg to see the lineup 2 days in a row...and if you are a reliever, I'm gonna use you until it hurts

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:36)

I never said that I agreed with TC on his overuse of Walker/Cabrera either...only reason why either one of them got hitting again is because they got hurt and needed time off

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:35)

Walker did squat for 12 weeks and he played every day

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:35)

all singles, and at least one of them should have been caught

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:34)

Is he hitting .389 over the past week?

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:33)

Loney is living off of his first month, he's got a .507 OPS in August...

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:31)

Loney is hitting .295 with a .760 OPS against RHP for the season and .389 over the past week. Flores has a .218 Ba and an OPS of .606

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:27)

yet, he still on the bench in favor of Loney who has not done a damn thing in August

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:26)

I didn't realize that 0th was an inning number

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:26)

espn.com is showing that both the Mets and the Marlins games are in the top of the 0th

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:11)

:PlayBall:

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 18:10)

Mets needed a RH'd Centerfielder...so they bring up Tj Rivera, who can't even play the infield?

has any of the Mets reporters ever asked whether Flo killed Terry's cat or something?

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 17:49)

TC is so predictable when it comes to Flores...Grand Slam yesterday...most RBI on the team in August despite being benched 1/2 the time...yet, he still on the bench in favor of Loney who has not done a damn thing in August

Brunch is now over

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 14:57)

Both Flores and Tejada hit well after the 2015 AS break; Flores hit .280/.311/.429 and RT .287/.362/.362. What it may have come down to is Alderson feeling he had enough power and opted for OBP. Or it was defense; at SS Flores has 14 E-6 in 800 innings and Tejada 5 in 600 inn. Or Alderson looked ahead and saw Kershaw, Brett Anderson equaling 3 LH starts in the 1st round and favored RT facing the lefties. RT wasn't getting much time from TC when Alderson anointed Flores the everyday SS going into spring training that season. But 7 E-6 in the first 21 games alerted everyone that SS may not be in Wilmer's best interest.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:51)

how many brunches are you having?

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:46)

OK, now it's brunch time.

His 2015 OPS was .725 facing LHP and .888 vs RHP at Bingo. With expected regression making the jump from AA into a run for the playoffs what would you have TC do...waste ABs by putting Conforto into circumstances stacked against him. This was not 2011-14 when development trumped winning. Conforto is hitting .241 with an OPS of .761 against RHP this season and hitting .275 and an OPS of .872. He has either regressed which has nothing to do with facing LHP or he was riding a hot streak last year. But considering that Conforto in his first trip to AAA this season dominated, came back and got his lunch eaten by ML pitching. You need a scape goat ...how about promoting him from AA before he was finished baking.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:38)

Last season was the closest he's come to an everyday balance

and he went from getting close 100 PA's in May and June per month...to about 85 PA's in August...and 55 PA's in September...and wouldn't have smelled the playoffs if Utley didn't injure TC's pet

@  Drucifer : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:26)

And now for some brunch.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:23)

and we got to the WS with him playing every day in the playoffs...I just think that it's wrong to do that to a young player that has hit both RHP and LHP well in the minors...they aren't going to develop if you cherry pick when they play...most other organizations play their young players vs both righties/lefties...

@  yogib8 : (27 Aug 2016 - 13:05)

Last season was the closest he's come to an everyday balance when he hit .263/.295/.408 which broke down to .310/.355/.600 vs LHP and .251/.279/.358 facing RHP. His ratio of PA against RHP:LHP was 4:1 close to what would be expected.

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 12:56)

just as TC helped turn Conforto into a crappy hitter vs LHP because when he first came up, he wasn't allowed to face LHP

@  Saxon : (27 Aug 2016 - 12:53)

I think Flo's biggest enemy is TC's inconsistent playing of him...when Tejada was here, Flo had to "earn" playing time and didn't consistently face LHP because Tejada could hit LHP...this season, he's gotten playing time mostly because we've had guys like Duda/Loney that suck against LHP but are adequate vs RHP
