No time to get cocky. We still have to win another game, and it is not going to be easy.Kershaw is a great pitcher, and we don't know what to expect from Matz. Plus, the pen is at best shaky. Nothing is sure yet.

Still can't believe how loud it got at Citi Field.

Pitching tomorrow is Clayton Kershaw, who believes that you, Twitter person,
are not entitled to judge Chase Utley. http://bit.ly/1OylygD

PROGRAMMING ALERT - I'm not sure about the NY market, but here, the Cubs game is playing on TBS. The Mets game is switching to TNT until the Cubs game is finished.

no utley in dodgers starting lineup. bit surprising, as terry collins said. has .333 lifetime average (6 for 18) vs. harvey

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Oct 2015 - 15:17)

Of course. The good old boys network is alive and well.

@  yogib8 : (12 Oct 2015 - 14:48)

Such bullshit that they couldnt hear the appeal today. MLB intentionally dragging their asses on this so they can say they did what was right to protect the players without actually penalizing anyone in the playoffs?

Is Joe Torre the same Joe Torre that managed the Dodgers and mentored Mattingly?

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Oct 2015 - 14:26)

And the fact that for this 'slide', Utley goes down on his knees past the bag. His knees are the first part of his body to make contact with the ground. No way that can even be talked about as a slide. It's a tackle/body roll.

@  METS FANG : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:46)

Its not the breaking up of the play, but the being HIGH on the hit that makes it DIRTY

@  METS FANG : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:45)

but because he was up high, Tejada had to go up and over in his "fall" making it a hell of a lot more dangerous and is what caused the injury.

@  METS FANG : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:44)

Had Utley been lower, he'd still have disrupted the play, but Tejada likely falls harmlessly ontop of him and no issue

@  METS FANG : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:44)

as you said, the "fall" starts when he's base deep already and he never hits the dirt (which is the definition of "sliding")

@  METS FANG : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:43)

MFO, the way I look at it, hard nosed slide as the feet is fine. Its classic baseball

@  abat : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:34)

Sadly won't be here live for tonight's game, have an early flight so need to get up at 4am anyway.

@  METSFRONTOFFICE : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:33)

I have watched the slide 100 times , not kidding. Rewind watch, rewind watch rewind slow it down and watch. At first I did not think it was dirty I thought it was a solid hard nose play, however I broke the slide down fram by frame and if you notice he doesn't even start his slide until he is within striking distance of Tejeda wich is at the bag, I got no problem sliding through the bag but not starting the slide at it. Dirty play Utley.

@  METS FANG : (12 Oct 2015 - 13:13)

@  brian stark : (12 Oct 2015 - 12:41)

Not saying that Utley WILL start, just that his numbers are good against Matt and it would be a wise move.

@  brian stark : (12 Oct 2015 - 12:16)

With the appeal, Utley will be able to play tonight. He is .333 against Harvey, while Kendrick is only .167. Once again, Muttley screws us.

@  Jambo : (12 Oct 2015 - 11:56)

Late night viewing again for us Uk fans, the wee small hours, Let's Go Mets!

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Oct 2015 - 07:50)

I'm all for someone drilling Utley but we need Harvey in that game for as long as possible. It will probably be the only time he throws in the series, so he needs to be smart and stay in the game.

@  Drucifer : (11 Oct 2015 - 23:44)

Rule 5.09 (a) (13)

@  Drucifer : (11 Oct 2015 - 22:25)

They just shown the vid again. Utley did start his slide pass 2B.

@  brian stark : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:39)

I don't mind going in hard, but go in clean. As Torre (finally) noted, Chase did not start his slide until he was almost hitting Tejada, and he was WAY off to the right, BARELY able to touch the base (which he did not do). What happens in little league has as much to do with what happens in the Big Leagues as you masturbating does to someone screwing Kate Upton.

@  steve : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:30)

In little league if you slide into 2nd baseman umpire kicks you out of the game.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:21)

Another thing that gets me is that the players' association will defend Utley in his appeal for a suspension given because he was guilty of a reckless and dirty play against another member, who he also injured. Explain that to Tejada.

@  steve : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:15)

As Ken Rosenthal explained.

@  steve : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:14)

Well ether way he could serve an 2 game suspension.

@  brian stark : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:10)

steve, I agree, when Utley is up in a non-crucial situation, as Marcellus Wallace said, his ass goes down. However, that situation called for cooler heads, as pissed off as I was at the time.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:06)

this is why the Jays' lineup is so dangerous.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:04)

The Rangers are managing to hang around. not good news for the Jays.

@  steve : (11 Oct 2015 - 21:01)

It i was on that mound id plunk Utley on the head

@  brian stark : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:54)

It's the UMPIRES job to protect the player. They failed.

@  brian stark : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:54)

Not the time to, steve, it's called using your head.

@  steve : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:48)

I disagree with your comment brain. The pitcher should retaliate. Its the pitchers duty to protect his team.

@  brian stark : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:48)

I agree. The rule is clear, 6.01 (6): "The umpire shall call the runner out for interference and also call out the batter-runner out because of the action of his teammate. IN NO EVENT MAY BASES BE RUN OR RUNS SCORED BECAUSE OF SUCH ACTIONS BY A RUNNER. Plain, simple, black and white. MLB and the Umps blew it big time.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:45)

Utley, shutup and take the suspension like a man. Guess he's not qualified to do that.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:40)

Too little, too late. MLB doesn't need to change the rules, just grow the balls to call the current rules.

@  steve : (11 Oct 2015 - 20:38)

How in the hell that ball didn't drop?
