Reyes and Murphy going to the DL

Written by Tyler M 16:16 PM, August 8th, 2011

Jose Reyes and Daniel Murphy both left Sunday's game against the Braves with different injuries. Both will not be going on the disabled list. Murphy will be out for the rest of the season after suffering a strained medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee. This happened after Jose Constanza stole second base and nailed the leg of Murphy, causing his knee to buckle. Murphy was hitting .320 with 6 home runs and 49 runs batted in on the year. He will be replaced by Ruben Tejada on the roster.

Reyes injured himself running out a ground ball in the first inning of Sunday's game. He was diagnosed with a strained left hamstring and should return sometime this season. On the season he is hitting .336 with 16 triples, 5 home runs, 30 runs batted in, and 34 stolen bases. He will be replaced by Mike Baxter.

Mets Get Hit Out of the Park, Drop Game 1, 4-2

Written by Tyler M 19:19 PM, April 16th, 2011

The Mets have got to do something. They dropped game one to the Braves by a score of 4-2, with all Braves runs coming off of solo home runs. Alex Gonzalez hit two home runs for Atlanta. D.J. Carrasco went 3.2 innings, allowing 3 runs (3 home runs), walking 3 and striking out 2. The Mets bullpen went 4.1 innings, allowing 2 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Pat Misch, called up after Chris Young was placed on the disabled list, went 2.0 innings allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.

Offensively, the Mets had their chances but didn't take advantage. Jose Reyes singled in the 9th to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Angel Pagan continues to struggle, going 1-4, now hitting .192.

Winning Pitcher: Derek Lowe (2-2)

Losing Pitcher: D.J. Carrasco (0-1)

Save: Craig Kimbrel (4)

Game 2 start time: 7:40pm.

Mets Drop Game 1 of Double Header, 6-5

Written by Tyler M 15:15 PM, April 14th, 2011

So close, yet not even close. Yet another Mets rally comes up short. David Wright almost hit a walk-off grand slam. But, as Brandon Lee said, "Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades". The Mets scored 2 in the 9th, 1 in the 8th, to come within 1 run. They had the bases loaded with 2 outs and David Wright just missed a grand slam. Jose Reyes continues to be hot, going 2-4 with a run batted in, a run scored, and a walk.

Pitching-wise, the Mets gave up too many runs. Something needs to be done pitching-wise. R.A. Dickey went 6.1 innings allowing 8 hits, 5 runs, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts.

Winning Pitcher: Greg Reynolds (1-0)

Losing Pitcher: R.A. Dickey (1-2)

Save: Matt Lindstrom (2)

Game 2 will be at 4:00pm.

Mets Pitching Notes

Written by Tyler M 15:15 PM, April 13th, 2011

A few notes are now public in regards to the Mets and pitching. Here they are:

  • Mets starter Chris Young will not start Friday. His start has been pushed back to Sunday due to bicep tendonitis. This means no spot starter will be needed for Sunday.
  • Due to Young's start being pushed back to Sunday, the Mets will have a spot starter for Friday's game.
  • Blaine Boyer cleared waivers today. He also elected to become a free agent rather than going to AAA Buffalo.

  • Jason Bay Still Won’t Be Back

    Post on: 19:19 PM, April 12th, 2011

Jason Bay strained his left intercostal muscle weeks ago. The latest prediction for his return now has him returning on April 26th, at the earliest. Even then, it is up in the air about whether or not he will be back and playing. If he does actually return on April 26th, it will be a few days short of a full month since he first suffered the injury. I have to wonder, when is ...
