Series Preview: Mets vs. Brewers (08/19 ~ 08/21)

Written by Drucifer 18:18 PM, August 19th, 2011

Milwaukee Brewers

@

New York Mets

Citi Field
Citi Field

Friday, 19th August, 7:10 PM EDT
Citi Field

Shaun Marcum, RH (10-3, 3.50)

Mike Pelfrey, RH (6-9, 4.58)

Scouting Report:

BREWERS: Marcum is 3-0 with five no-decisions in his last eight starts, but he pitched well against the Pirates on Sunday. He allowed a first-inning run, but hurled 7 2/3 innings. Marcum pitched six shutout innings against the Mets on June 7.

METS: Though Pelfrey left his last start in the fifth inning after taking a line drive off his pitching elbow, X-rays were negative and he should make his next start. That will come against the Brewers, whom he held to two runs over six innings on June 8.

Saturday, 20th August, 4:10 PM EDT
Citi Field

Randy Wolf, LH (10-8, 3.30)

Chris Capuano, LH (9-11, 4.58)

Scouting Report:

BREWERS: Wolf has won four straight starts, and has worked eight innings in each of the last two. He wasn't particularly sharp against the Dodgers on Monday but benefited from four double plays and the sixth triple play in Brewers history.

METS: For the second time this season, Capuano will face his former team. The lefty's first reunion was a success, as he held the Brewers to one run over six innings in a June 7 victory. Prior to joining the Mets, Capuano spent five seasons in Milwaukee.

Sunday, 21st August, 1:10 PM EDT
Citi Field

Yovani Gallardo, RH (13-8, 3.55)

R.A. Dickey, RH (5-11, 3.77)

Scouting Report:

BREWERS: Gallardo is coming off his fifth start of at least eight innings, and has worked at least seven innings in four of his last five starts. He allowed 10 hits against the Mets when he faced them June 9.

METS: Monday was the same old story for Dickey, who pitched well enough to win in San Diego but did not. The knuckleballer has not won any of his last four starts, despite pitching at least six innings and allowing three or fewer runs in all of them.
