Adam Rubin reports that Ryota Igarashi was cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo. Since Igarashi is set to make $1.75M in 2011, no team wanted to pick him up, so the Mets were able to get him back, which was expected.
Igarashi was designated for assignment by the Mets to make room on the roster for Taylor Buchholz and Chris Capuano. Igarashi will be fighting for a spot in the Mets bullpen during Spring Training.
