- Carlos Beltran – Reached base three times last night with a double and two walks…Beltran has reached base safely (via a hit, walk or hit by pitch) in his last 22 games dating back to June 16…Beltran’s on-base percentage during that stretch is .417…It is his longest such streak since reaching in 30 straight games from September 24, 2008-May 5, 2009…Beltran leads the NL with 28 doubles and is tied for seventh with 58 RBI.
- Daniel Murphy – Went 1-4 with an RBI double last night…Since May 21, Murphy is hitting .356 (63-177), the third-highest average in the majors…Murphy had a .234 (29-124) batting average over his first 40 games of the year…Murphy is ninth in the NL with a .354 (29-82) batting average with runners in scoring position (min. 62 plate appearances).
- The Pen – New York’s bullpen allowed one run in 2.0 innings last night, snapping its 14.1 scoreless inning streak…The Mets pen has posted a 1.48 ERA (four earned runs/24.1 innings), the third-best mark in the majors this month, behind the White Sox (0.73) and Braves (1.46)…Francisco Rodriguez is one save shy of tying Roger McDowell for sixth place on the club’s all-time list with 84…He has 291 career saves, two behind teammate Jason Isringhausen for 23rd on the all-time list.
- Mike Pelfrey – Is 2-1 with a 2.04 ERA (eight earned runs/35.1 innings) vs. San Francisco……Pelfrey won, 6-0, at Los Angeles (NL) on July 5…Pitched 6.0 scoreless innings and allowed five hits and two walks…Also recorded two strikeouts and threw 102 pitches, 60 strikes…The start marked the first scoreless outing of the season for Pelfrey.
- All-Stars – The 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will take place this Tuesday in Phoenix, AZ…Jose Reyes was named the starting shortstop and outfielder Carlos Beltran was selected for the National League All-Star team…Reyes, who will be replaced since he is on the 15-Day Disabled with a left hamstring strain, was selected to his fourth All-Star team (2006-2007, 2010-2011) and second as a starter…Reyes’ four All-Star appearances are the most in team history by a shortstop…Beltran made his sixth All-Star team and his fifth as a member of the Mets (2005-2007, 2009, 2011)…The five All-Star appearances are the second-most by a Mets outfielder, two behind Darryl Strawberry’s seven.
- Future Games – The Mets will have two representatives in tonight’s XM All-Star Futures Game at Arizona’s Chase Field at 6 p.m. (ESPN2)…RHP Matt Harvey, the club’s first-round pick from the 2010 First Year Player Draft, is a member of the US Team while third baseman Jefry Marte, a native of the Dominican Republic, will participate for the World Team…Harvey was 8-2 with 92 strikeouts in 76.0 innings and a 2.37 ERA in 14 starts with St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League before he was recently promoted to Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League…The righthander is 0-2 with 14 strikeouts in 12.2 innings in two starts with the BMets ….Marte is hitting .275 (83-302) with 36 runs scored, 18 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 39 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 81 games for St. Lucie…Marte was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2007.
