10:48 PM:
Mark Zuckerman reports that it is raining very rain in Viera right now and that the new drainage system at Space Coast Stadium is being put to the test. There is a chance this game will be delayed or even canceled.
10:15 PM:
The New York Mets travel to Viera today to take on the Washington Nationals at Space Coast Stadium. Game time is set for 1:05 PM and the game will not be televised or be on the radio. Left hander Jon Niese will make his first start of Spring Training for the Mets today. The Nationals will counter with veteran right hander and ex-Met Livan Hernandez. Also due to pitch for the Mets today is Manny Acosta, Pedro Beato, John Lujan, Blaine Boyer, and Manny Alvarez. Francisco Rodriguez was scheduled to pitch today, be he didn't travel with the team. Adam Rubin reports that he was in court the past two days and hasn't been able to throw, so the Mets will wait until Thursday for him to pitch.
Here is the line-up for the Mets today:
- Jose Reyes – SS
- Willie Harris – LF
- David Wright – 3B
- Ike Davis – 1B
- Brad Emaus – 2B
- Lucas Duda – DH
- Josh Thole – C
- Fernando Martinez – LF
- Jason Pridie – CF
It almost looks like the Mets line-up…
Here is the line-up for the Nationals:
- Nyjer Morgan – CF
- Ian Desmond – SS
- Jayson Werth – RF
- Ryan Zimmerman – 3B
- Mike Morse – LF
- Adam LaRoche – DH
- Ivan Rodriguez – C
- Danny Espinosa – 2B
- Chris Marrero – 1B
This is probably very similar to what the Nationals line-up will be on Opening Day, besides the stupid DH thing in there.
Other Notes:
- Wright went hitless (0-2) in his first Spring Training game.
- Emaus only has one at-bat this Spring Training, and that came as a pinch-hitter.
- Rodriguez threw a bullpen session at Digital Domain Park today.
