PreGame: Mets @ Nationals – 03.01

Written by Brandon Lee 10:10 AM, March 1st, 2011

10:48 PM

Mark Zuckerman reports that it is raining very rain in Viera right now and that the new drainage system at Space Coast Stadium is being put to the test. There is a chance this game will be delayed or even canceled.

10:15 PM:

The New York Mets travel to Viera today to take on the Washington Nationals at Space Coast Stadium. Game time is set for 1:05 PM and the game will not be televised or be on the radio. Left hander Jon Niese will make his first start of Spring Training for the Mets today. The Nationals will counter with veteran right hander and ex-Met Livan Hernandez. Also due to pitch for the Mets today is Manny AcostaPedro Beato, John Lujan, Blaine Boyer, and Manny Alvarez. Francisco Rodriguez was scheduled to pitch today, be he didn't travel with the team. Adam Rubin reports that he was in court the past two days and hasn't been able to throw, so the Mets will wait until Thursday for him to pitch.

Here is the line-up for the Mets today:

  1. Jose Reyes – SS
  2. Willie Harris – LF
  3. David Wright – 3B
  4. Ike Davis – 1B
  5. Brad Emaus – 2B
  6. Lucas Duda – DH
  7. Josh Thole – C
  8. Fernando Martinez – LF
  9. Jason Pridie – CF

It almost looks like the Mets line-up…

Here is the line-up for the Nationals:

  1. Nyjer Morgan – CF
  2. Ian Desmond – SS
  3. Jayson Werth – RF
  4. Ryan Zimmerman – 3B
  5. Mike Morse – LF
  6. Adam LaRoche – DH
  7. Ivan Rodriguez – C
  8. Danny Espinosa – 2B
  9. Chris Marrero – 1B

This is probably very similar to what the Nationals line-up will be on Opening Day, besides the stupid DH thing in there.

Other Notes:

  • Wright went hitless (0-2) in his first Spring Training game.
  • Emaus only has one at-bat this Spring Training, and that came as a pinch-hitter.
  • Rodriguez threw a bullpen session at Digital Domain Park today.

PreGame: Mets vs. Nationals ~ 02.28

Written by Brandon Lee 12:12 PM, February 28th, 2011

Ahhh… nice to be doing this again.

The New York Mets are set to take on the Washington Nationals today at Digital Domain Park. Game time is set for 1:10 PM and the game will be aired on SNY. Mike Pelfrey takes the hill for the Mets against Chad Gaudin.

Here are the line-ups for today's game:

METS:

  1. Luis Castillo – 2B
  2. Angel Pagan – CF
  3. Jason Bay – LF
  4. Nick Evans – 1B
  5. Fernando Martinez – DH
  6. Scott Hairston – RF
  7. Daniel Murphy – 3B
  8. Mike Nickeas – C
  9. Ruben Tejada – SS

NATIONALS:

  1. Nyjer Morgan – CF
  2. Ian Desmond – SS
  3. Roger Bernadina – LF
  4. Mike Morse – RF
  5. Matt Stairs – DH
  6. Wilson Ramos – C
  7. Kevin Barker – 1B
  8. Danny Espinosa – 2B
  9. Jerry Hairston Jr. – 3B

Notes:

  • Pelfrey gets his first action of Spring Training.
  • Scott Hairston and Jerry Hairston Jr. are brothers who played together in San Diego last season. Now, they are playing against each other today.
  • Murphy is playing third base, his natural position. Not only is Murphy trying to show he can be a starting second baseman, he's also trying to show he can be the back-up third baseman (and first baseman for that matter).
