Mark Bowman reports that the Mets have claimed relief pitcher Manny Acosta from the Atlanta Braves. He served as the closer for the Braves when Rafael Soriano went down last year. He was added to the Mets 40-man roster and sent down to AAA Buffalo.
Steve Popper reports Mike Jacobs will start in place of Daniel Murphy in tomorrow’s line-up. Murphy left the game today with what the team is calling a bruised right knee.
Tim Dierkes compiled a list of the most expensive rotations in baseball. No surprise, the Yankees are number one. In fact, their rotation has a higher salary than the entire team of the Oakland Athletics, Florida Marlins, Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, and Tampa Bay Rays (all based on last year’s payroll numbers). Hanley Ramirez told The Palm Beach Post that he wants to retire as a Florida Marlin. Not sure if the Marlins have the money, or even want to spend the money to keep Hanley. He is signed through the 2014 season.
According to a team press release, the Minnesota Twins have signed left handed relief pitch Ron Mahay.
Joel Sherman reports that the Mets are shopping outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. No real shock here… they got to do something with him because there is no room for him once Beltran comes back.

The Florida Marlins have released relief pitcher Mike MacDougal according to a team press release. Thought MacDougal converted 20 out of 21 save opportunities last season, he had more walks than strikeouts.
