Subway Series Preview: Yankees vs. Met (05/20 ~ 05/22)

Written by Drucifer 12:12 PM, May 23rd, 2011

New York Mets

@

New York Yankees

New Yankee Stadium
Yankee Stadium

Friday, May 20th, 7:05 PM EDT
Yankee Stadium

R.A. Dickey, RH (1-5, 5.08)

Freddy Garcia, RH (2-3, 3.22)

Scouting Report:

METS: Dickey pitched poorly in his last start, a loss Saturday at Houston, giving up six hits and four runs in the first inning. He managed to last 5 1/3 innings, but surrendered two home runs in the sixth that sent him packing.

YANKEES: Garcia tied a season high by allowing four runs in his last start, a loss to the Red Sox in which he allowed six hits and walked two over 5 1/3 innings. In his career, Garcia is 21-8 with a 2.92 ERA during Interleague Play.

Saturday, May 21st, 7:05 PM EDT
Yankee Stadium

Chris Capuano, LH (3-4, 4.78)

A.J. Burnett, RH (4-3, 3.99)

Scouting Report:

METS: Though Capuano has not pitched deep into games lately, he has allowed just three runs in each of his last three starts. He has not faced the Yankees since 2005, when they tagged him for seven runs over four innings as a member of the Brewers.

YANKEES: Despite working with a four-run lead, Burnett absorbed the loss in his last start, against the Rays on Monday. The right-hander was charged with six runs on eight hits, three of which were critical homers.

Sunday, May 22nd, 1:05 PM EDT
Yankee Stadium

Mike Pelfrey, RH (3-3, 5.11)

Ivan Nova, RH (4-3, 4.33)

Scouting Report:

METS: Though Pelfrey extended his winless streak against the Marlins to 13 starts, he did hold the Fish to one run in seven innings of a no-decision Monday. He'll look for similar success at Yankee Stadium, where he lost his only career start last year.

YANKEES: Nova helped the Yanks snap a six-game skid in his last start, holding the Rays to a run on four hits in 5 1/3 innings for his fourth win of the year. It was a big improvement over his previous start, a three-inning dud in which he gave up 10 hits.
