A few notes are now public in regards to the Mets and pitching. Here they are:

• Mets starter Chris Young will not start Friday. His start has been pushed back to Sunday due to bicep tendonitis. This means no spot starter will be needed for Sunday.
• Due to Young's start being pushed back to Sunday, the Mets will have a spot starter for Friday's game.
• Blaine Boyer cleared waivers today. He also elected to become a free agent rather than going to AAA Buffalo.

Before today's game, the Mets announced that Hisanori Takahashi will be returning to the rotation. His next start has been announced as Saturday against the Phillies. Takahashi's last start was July 31st against the D'backs, when he went 6 innings allowing a run on 7 hits, walking 2 and striking out 10. Since then, Takahashi has made 2 relief appearances. Wednesday in Atlanta he went 1.1 innings allowing a hit, 2 unearned runs, and struck out 1. Today, Takahashi went 2 innings allowing 2 hits, no runs, and struck out 1. This year he is 7-5 with a 4.13 ERA.
