Matt Ehalt ‏@MattEhalt
In 14 days Mets have won three games 2-0, 2-0, 1-0, and two others scoring three runs or fewer. Managed 8-5 in this stretch.

@  thomasam : (30 May 2016 - 15:40)

You're not picking up Paul Goldschmidt or Miguel Cabrera here, you want someone to fill in with limited resources given up

@  thomasam : (30 May 2016 - 15:40)

I like the Loney signing though overall, he's got very little HR power but puts the ball in play and is a plus defensively

@  thomasam : (30 May 2016 - 15:39)

Sale is elite but Quintana is all-star caliber

@  thomasam : (30 May 2016 - 15:38)

The White Sox are a good team that's been weaker lately but Quintana has been very good all year and in 2015

@  thomasam : (30 May 2016 - 15:37)

Man, so much negativity on a big positive day for this team

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 15:12)

he plays a power hitter's position with Ruben Tejada type power...and he's a lefty, which means that more than likely, he sucks vs LHP

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 15:11)

signing off gents. Good Memorial day to you all!

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 15:06)

what happened with him anyway? how did he get DFA'ed and no one pick up him? guy hits .280 last season and ends up in the minors?

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 15:05)

he's been MLB his whole career, and I believe doing well in padres farm

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 15:05)

i don't platoon. job is looneys unless he struggles

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 15:04)

sax, yes, i agree a "waste" pitch needs to be close enough its temping. But Kershaw's movement is elite, not all pitchers have that talent. you work with what you've got

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 15:03)

So...DW goes on the DL when they activate Looney? With Flo playing full time and Looney/Campbell in a platoon?

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 15:01)

and Thor is starting to be almost as efficient (other than the occasional ball that gets away and winds up behind a batter)

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 15:00)

how many wasted pitches do you think Kershawn throws? Even if he's throwing a ball, he still makes it close enough that the batter is tempted...the guy is throwing around 8 innings a start, almost all of his starts are 100-114 pitches, and he's got a 105-5 K:BB ratio... http://www.baseball-...1&t=p&year=2016

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:53)

isn't the change up thrown for a ball doing exactly that? or the fastball upstairs? you got him by the balls. Give him something he thinks he can hit, but has no shot at.

@  yogib8 : (30 May 2016 - 14:53)

You wearing camo when you put down those wounded squirrels and field mice

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:51)

I've never been a fan of the 0-2 and 1-2 approach of wasting pitches and then allowing the batter back into the count...you have the guy by the balls, put him down like the wounded animal that he is

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:50)

nothing worse than the Al Leiter like 109 pitches in 5 innings nonsense

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:50)

1 walk will do that for you.

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:49)

not bad...109 pitches for a 9 inning game? that's like Tom Seaver era pitching

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:49)

stand by the statement (and I'm pretty sure unanimous agreement here) but that Thor toss out fucked us. Moved a real shot at a W to the L column

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:48)

2-9 binge, but 1st in their division before that

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:47)

good win to get back on track! and nice to see harvey in line. but needs to give me two more before I start to believe in the dark-knight again

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:46)

nice thing is...we can pitch to a crap team on a 2-9 binge

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:46)

hold on, they play baseball, there are lots of ways to injure a shoulder, but I agree, it was likely throwing. But your argument, and I quote "tries to make up for it by rushing his throwing action, and tears his shoulder doing it..." is you making up facts to help your story

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:45)

those camo uniforms should get a firing squad...they are :fbomb: ugly

@  abat : (30 May 2016 - 14:45)

Good win

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:44)

lol Yogi - navy bot through and through

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:44)

come on, really Fang? throwing shoulder gets injured & you need proof that it's throwing related? give me a :fbomb: break

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:44)

you're talking baseball reasons to try DW at first, and I'm ok with that. But that has nothing to do with his neck getting injured, but still where would you put Duda if Wright regularly starting 1B?

@  yogib8 : (30 May 2016 - 14:43)

Fleet week in NY, the Mets should have worn Navy camo

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:43)

only time that DW didn't suck at throwing was when he had Ike Davis saving his ass

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:43)

and DW, has always sucked at throwing (and has never been able to nail anyone when the ball goes to his backhand side, other than a bunt)...1B's don't throw as much, a girl's arm at first isn't as much of a weakness

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:42)

oooh, he injured himself throwing too quickly. Didn't realize that was the medical diagnosis... article?

@  brian stark : (30 May 2016 - 14:42)

Two.

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:42)

Mets bench is infinitely better than last years bench, and wasn't exposed until 3 starters (all in the IF) went down injured

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:41)

and Travis's injury is catching related...he sucks at throwing to 2nd from catcher's position...he's exposed himself...tries to make up for it by rushing his throwing action, and tears his shoulder doing it...

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:41)

I think we're hitting on the crux of the issue here. Tejada now DFA'ed by Cards. Depth, especially back of your bench depth, is not an easy thing to get

@  brian stark : (30 May 2016 - 14:41)

One.

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:40)

.240 with consistent PA's vs Campbells spot starts. WC, you forget that Uribe as DFA'ed early last year. letting him go wasn't a big mistake.

@  Saxon : (30 May 2016 - 14:40)

the point is, both are taxing positions...1st base is a joke as far as body stress (unless you are playing a Keith type of 1st)

@  West Coast M... : (30 May 2016 - 14:39)

Flores appears to me to not be suited to coming off the bench. He needs to play regularly at this stage in his career

@  METS FANG : (30 May 2016 - 14:38)

d'arnaud injury isn't catching related, and wrights neck doesn't appear to be 3B related.... all beside the fact that we had a 1B that wasn't going anywhere... so what was your point again?

@  West Coast M... : (30 May 2016 - 14:38)

We like Uribe's .240 because it is better than Campbell's .159
