@  Canada Mets Fan : (14 Feb 2016 - 17:49)

Yes I knew who Sandy was from his days with the A's back in the 80s.

@  mjjm367 : (14 Feb 2016 - 16:53)

TS - I did not know who he was, but typically, I know very few of the execs in baseball.

@  thomasam : (14 Feb 2016 - 14:54)

I've got a general question for everyone: before Sandy came here did you know who he was?

@  thomasam : (14 Feb 2016 - 14:52)

Wow that really sounds like an old time town with moonshiners and cops looking the other way...

@  Canada Mets Fan : (14 Feb 2016 - 11:58)

And I'm guessing the police have bigger fish to fry than some shine makers?

@  brian stark : (14 Feb 2016 - 10:55)

Most of it is, I mean, really? Do the cops not watch TV? Funny thing here is that the guy who makes the best shine in our county is also one of the county sherrifs...

@  Canada Mets Fan : (14 Feb 2016 - 10:21)

Wow. I've watched the Moonshiners show a few times on Discovery. I figured a lot of it was a TV creation. Maybe I was wrong?

@  brian stark : (14 Feb 2016 - 09:50)

They busted one right down the street, and we are in a decent neighborhood. It's a rampant scourge running through the whole region. It used to be moonshiners (still a few here and there), but the money is in Walter White's invention. It's actually surprising, you'll see on TV some DEA and State cops swarm a house (or trailer) in a nice area and yank out a couple of guys and their gear. Happens about once a month.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (14 Feb 2016 - 09:27)

What?? Lots of meth labs in the town??

@  brian stark : (14 Feb 2016 - 09:21)

Well, I kid, it's not actually THAT bad. Lot's of Meth labs, though...

@  Canada Mets Fan : (14 Feb 2016 - 09:11)

Don't hold back brian, tell us how you really feel about the place.

@  brian stark : (14 Feb 2016 - 08:33)

Well, some folks get pissed at me for everything, and I don't want to offend anyone's sensibilities...

@  abat : (14 Feb 2016 - 06:18)

Takes more than an amusing description of a US state to offend me

@  mjjm367 : (13 Feb 2016 - 17:34)

Apparently where you live, it isn't something that causes a filter to react.

@  brian stark : (13 Feb 2016 - 15:15)

Thought the filter would catch that, I apologize for any offense...

@  brian stark : (13 Feb 2016 - 14:36)

LOL, try living in Eastern Buttfuck Egypt here in NC. Banjo players are the least of your worries...

@  West Coast M... : (13 Feb 2016 - 13:37)

I would also recommend avoiding towns that lack dentist

@  mjjm367 : (13 Feb 2016 - 13:34)

I blame this on brian - I did a search to see who Luke Bryan was, and now all I am getting is ads for country music. I'm paddling like hell, before I start hearing banjos.

@  brian stark : (13 Feb 2016 - 09:58)

Jennry is insisting that he has never taken anything, is appealing, and will fight. "I have to clear my name... It's not like they say, I am sure I did not use anything". Once, I might give him the benefit of the doubt. Twice? Skeptical, but you never know. THREE TIMES? Shut the :fbomb: up, Jennry, and take your medicine. Oh, wait, you did. Three times...

@  mjjm367 : (12 Feb 2016 - 22:48)

yogi - I'm addressing your question about steroids in the Mejia thread. Too much to type here.

@  yogib8 : (12 Feb 2016 - 19:35)

West Coast M... : (12 Feb 2016 - 18:50)
He gives rocks a bad name
I had a pet door nail when I was young named Mejia

@  yogib8 : (12 Feb 2016 - 19:25)

Are anabolic steroids addictive? Didn't think so, so what was he thinking use PEDs 4 months before he could be reinstated?

@  West Coast M... : (12 Feb 2016 - 18:50)

He gives rocks a bad name

@  Drucifer : (12 Feb 2016 - 18:16)

How can he be this dumb?

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 17:56)

so so so so so so so stupid

@  mjjm367 : (12 Feb 2016 - 17:48)

Tortoise - "accidentally" bumping into attractive women. Mejia - after two previous "mistakes", throwing away millions of dollars. You would be better getting stock advice from the tortoise.

@  mjjm367 : (12 Feb 2016 - 17:47)

Clearly Fang's tortoise is smarter than Mejia.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Feb 2016 - 17:22)

Un-frigging-believable.

@  abat : (12 Feb 2016 - 17:17)

Unreal, how stupid can one person be

@  West Coast M... : (12 Feb 2016 - 17:08)

Mejia permanently suspended for his third drug test violation. How sad.

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 15:06)

upon googling - I've corrected my spelling to tortoise. Thanks for the red underline google! NOT! :/

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:59)

presentation different than a runway show obviously - smaller - no runway - cost less :p

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:58)

http://media.gettyim...ure-id509569572

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:57)

but no, they've all been pretty straight forward. There was on presentation with a tortous that kept bumping into the models.... One of the torteses couldn't stop checking itself out in the mirror, a real prima tortous.

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:56)

that wasn't a show, that was a party

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:24)

brian, eagerly awaiting the new episode of TWD?

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:21)

Fang, any crazy shows like the last one with the horse??

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:20)

Yep, if my foresight was as strong as my hindsight, I'd be a rich man!!

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:04)

http://nymag.com/the...esigners/milly/ :)

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:04)

on that note, I'm going to go watch the Milly FW Show.

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 14:02)

this is why diversity is great, because it protects you in both directions. But to play reactionary games with the market, while it may work sometimes (Like the start of 2016) it can just as easily fail (August 2015)

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 13:59)

sorry, sidetracked by stupid work, fashion week... bah ;) so to finish the thought, whats a tease? Lets look at August '15 for example. DOW in a week lost 2K points (~12%), gold rose in that same week ~5%. So the average consumer, after seeing that, if you decided at the end of that brutal week to move to gold... in the following week, the DOW rebounded 6% and gold shrunk back to its original level at -5%

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 13:46)

yogi, I agree gold in 2016 was a great investment, but If I had a hindsighted ability to look at all stocks, i'd be RICH. The problem is identifying whats a good time, and whats a tease?

@  yogib8 : (12 Feb 2016 - 13:42)

Canada Mets Fan : (11 Feb 2016 - 21:43)
I don't own any gold now but I've always liked it as part of a strategy. Silver too. l follow metals closely and they are getting hammered now. Very difficult for mining companies to raise any money these days.
Mining stocks will follow the rise in the gold price, which has been on a steady 2 month recovery.

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 13:29)

lol, love it :)

@  yogib8 : (12 Feb 2016 - 13:21)

Came across this

The so-called "FANG" stocks that the financial media love to tout – Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Netflix (NFLX), and Google – now known as Alphabet (GOOG) – fell 7%, 15%, 10%, and 8%, respectively.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (12 Feb 2016 - 12:39)

The Can $ all the way up to $.72. Wow, a bonanza for my Florida trip.

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 11:52)

gold is also back down to approximately its opening bell total of US markets from yesterday. But up overall significantly from the wednesday US closing bell total. Obviously Gold being traded world wide doesn't have the same opening/closing limitations, but it still paints a US picture to a degree

@  METS FANG : (12 Feb 2016 - 11:48)

11 now. rest of US markets looked to have rebounded from all of their losses yesterday
