What is it and how does it work?  What ancillary devices are required?

I've seen it heavily advertised on TV and thought it might make a good gift for a couple of nephews aged early 20's.

Well, today's cell phones all have tablet features. Check out Google Play to see what can be added to a Galaxy.

Depends on the Galaxy you are getting.  Its like saying iPad or iPhone, just samsung.  They make tablets and phones and come out with a new one every 1-2 years.  They also come in different sizes.

What I was referring to is the device that, as shown on TV, is worn like bulky goggles that the viewer is awed or excited about.

So essentially it is a novelty with a long future as a paper weight?

could be - but just 1 guys opinion.  You're not buying them the next iPad that they'll get years of use out of.

Back to the gift card from the men's clothing store.   Clothing doesn't make the man, but it refines the package.

I think that those VR's (Virtual Reality) headsets are only compatible with certain Samsung Galaxy smartphones and Note and Edge Tablets...which all cost several hundred dollars in themselves...I think that they would be pretty cool for certain things, but pricy overall if you didn't already have the compatible phone or tablet...
