100 days means snow season is over and I have to pack my snowboard back into storage - not ready for that yet as I haven't even made the switch with the golf clubs yet

@  Drucifer : (25 Nov 2015 - 14:06)

Hey when your my age, a 100 days is extremely fast. As it about the same time period as my routine lab work.

@  Drucifer : (25 Nov 2015 - 14:03)

I see a few bench players switched teams since I last checked. I wonder if MFO thinks the ;mets; should have been involved in any of those move instead. As he's a firm believer in that the team must always be doing something in order to prove to fans they're working.

that sounds closer than it is

@  brian stark : (24 Nov 2015 - 18:28)

Less than 100 days until the first game!

@  Drucifer : (24 Nov 2015 - 17:38)

EARLY WARNING: Is everyone ready for another round of Mets failure to sign a significant player with the signing of Stolmy Pimentel to minor league deal w/ST invite by MFO?

@  METS FANG : (24 Nov 2015 - 12:21)

Basketball is a distant distant distant #4 (like if the Knicks won, I'd be marginally more happy than another team, but I couldn't name 3 starters)

@  METS FANG : (24 Nov 2015 - 12:20)

Football/Baseball are 1/1A

@  Canada Mets Fan : (24 Nov 2015 - 12:11)

Haha, no worry. Football is your 2nd sport? The NFL games this year, as a whole, have not been good. Maybe 8 'good' teams in the league this season??

@  METS FANG : (24 Nov 2015 - 12:08)

yea - I'll be honest - Hockey is a distant #3 sport for me. I don't follow even close to your level. I know the rangers and the stars (not dallas, but gifted players :p)

@  Canada Mets Fan : (24 Nov 2015 - 12:02)

Fang, just another reason to love hockey!

@  METS FANG : (24 Nov 2015 - 11:20)

Of course Conference championships 3 of 4 years (+ 1 of which in the Cup finals) does make a hot ticket even hotter. The one save grace is hockey is more of a niche market so you get less bandwagon

@  METS FANG : (24 Nov 2015 - 11:17)

Gotta side with Dru here. Even Knicks are a hot ticket, and they've been terrible for the better part of 15 years.

@  Drucifer : (24 Nov 2015 - 00:37)

Rangers games been sold out for decades.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 21:28)

Are the Rangers a hot ticket in NYC?

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 21:27)

But it shows the resiliency of the Rangers. The Preds are a solid team with good D and a great goalie, but little offense.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 21:25)

If you're the Preds it's one of those games where you do everything but score, or win!

@  METS FANG : (23 Nov 2015 - 21:23)

CMF - I will say this - 3 goals on 14 shots, in a game they've been otherwise dominated in for the first 2 periods - kinda crazy...

@  METS FANG : (23 Nov 2015 - 20:26)

I guess, not "VERY" because they are winning and split the first two. But how long can you survive like that?

@  METS FANG : (23 Nov 2015 - 20:25)

They're looking sloppy for the third straight game, very frustrating

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 20:02)

Fang, I've got Preds-Rangers. Not the Rangers' best period but when your goalie is your best player, you can get away with a few penalties.

@  Drucifer : (23 Nov 2015 - 14:55)

Looks like this with be another very slow week for :MetsHotStove:

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 10:16)

That D is probably the best corps in the NHL. If Boyle ever rediscovers his game, look out.

@  METS FANG : (23 Nov 2015 - 09:41)

but yes, King Henrik is a BEAST and having him has really really really helped as well :)

@  METS FANG : (23 Nov 2015 - 09:40)

What has also helped has been that they have trailed so few times this season that they can sit back and clog up the neutral and defensive zones

@  METS FANG : (23 Nov 2015 - 09:38)

pretty stoked, but I think while he's looked great, the defense in front of him has played pretty lights out as well.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 07:57)

Fang, King Henrik is looking unbeatable so far this season, crazy numbers. You must be happy.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (23 Nov 2015 - 07:16)

I'm pretty sure I can suspend reality a little as I watch a show about zombies taking over the world...

@  brian stark : (22 Nov 2015 - 22:43)

Yeah, slipped under there right off the bat. Episode was interesting, if you suspend the knowledge that dumpsters are usually only about three inches or so off the ground.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (22 Nov 2015 - 21:24)

I didn't see the opening scene. So he rolled under the dempster?? No spoilers please, I don't read the comics.

@  brian stark : (22 Nov 2015 - 21:07)

Of course, this means that they can now follow the comics more closely. Won't do a spoiler if you don't know.

@  brian stark : (22 Nov 2015 - 21:05)

Knew he was, but it's kind of bullshit. No dumpster is that high off the ground.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (22 Nov 2015 - 21:04)

brian, Glen's alive???

@  Saxon : (22 Nov 2015 - 17:34)

however, a lot of times that makes a guy put up good numbers is the lineup around them and the ballpark that they play in...it's a lot easier to be a "hero" when you have a 200+ million dollar supporting cast in a joke of a ballpark like Yankme Stadium than it is to be stuck in the blackhole in Seattle with a less than ideal supporting cast and ballpark

@  Saxon : (22 Nov 2015 - 17:33)

however...a GM obtains a guy of Cano/Grandy stature for a power spot based on their previous power numbers...In a lot of situations, it's because the GM didn't do their homework; but at the same time, they don't expect a 25+ HR guy to not be able to bat in the 3/4/5 holes on their team

@  Drucifer : (22 Nov 2015 - 16:49)

Cano has talent. Getting the most from that talent is a manager job. When a manager doesn't know how to do that, it is easy to make a bad lineup around him. A good example of the this was the Mets insistence to bat Granderson 4th because he had the numbers needed for the 4th hole.

@  Saxon : (21 Nov 2015 - 21:05)

in otherwords, he's saying for a guy that bats 3rd on an everyday basis...not worst everyday hitter...and not worst everyday hitter that bats third (on less than an everyday basis)..

@  Saxon : (21 Nov 2015 - 21:04)

he said "worst 3rd place everyday hitter"; not worst everyday player...and he was referring to his 1st half of the season, not overall...the paper kind of sensationalized it a bit more than he really said

@  Drucifer : (21 Nov 2015 - 15:48)

Robinson Cano getting blame for Mariners failure.

Andy Van Slyke hammers Robinson Cano as ‘the worst everyday player I’ve ever seen’

@  yogib8 : (21 Nov 2015 - 15:16)

@ Drucifer I would go ahead with my move to San Jose and threaten to sue MLB if the Giants tried to stop 'em.

Even the sniff of a law suit which would jeopardize the Anti-trust exemption would have 29 owners telling the Giants to get over it.

@  Saxon : (21 Nov 2015 - 14:56)

Wouldn't the Giants presence at Candlestick given them the right's to move within their own sphere without the A's approval?

doing some research on that (but wifey is calling me away)...apparently San Jose was originally the A's territory, but they "signed it away" to allow the Giants to go to San Jose, but instead the Giants moved closer to the A's and blocked the A's from getting back their original territorial rights

@  Drucifer : (21 Nov 2015 - 14:48)

If the A's owner had balls, I would go ahead with my move to San Jose and threaten to sue MLB if the Giants tried to stop 'em. Can you imagine Coke holding back a Pepsi move? When blocking another team move is bad for baseball, one team should not be allow to block the move.

@  Saxon : (21 Nov 2015 - 14:46)

Oakland is 40 miles from San Jose; AT&T is 10.8 miles from Oakland; Oakland is 56 miles from San Jose...note: the SF 49ers play in Santa Clara which is about 6 miles away from the San Jose Airport..at least according to the google maps that I am looking at

@  yogib8 : (21 Nov 2015 - 14:41)

Wouldn't the Giants presence at Candlestick given them the right's to move within their own sphere without the A's approval?

@  Saxon : (21 Nov 2015 - 14:36)

the kicker is, where AT&T park was built was within the Oakland A's territorial range...The A's signed off on it to keep the Giants from moving elsewhere...yet, when the shoe is on the other foot, the Giants spit in the A's face...it isn't right...especially when you consider that AT&T park is less than 11 miles from Oakland...San Fran is a huge baseball city; San Jose is an up-and-coming rich city; Oakland is like the worst parts of St Louis from the Chevy Chase Vacation movie...
