The reason you see more shifts now is because they WORK. Didn't in the past because the hitters would see the shift and go the other way (other than Williams, he refused to change his approach and STILL hit .344 for his career). "Hit 'em where they ain't".

@  brian stark : (25 May 2016 - 05:21)

Can't outlaw something that has been around since the beginning of the game. Better thing to do? Have your hitter learn to take the ball the other way. Best way to stop shifts is to beat them. If Ted Williams had to face a shift and deal with it, well then the guys today should too. Learn to deal with it.

@  Drucifer : (25 May 2016 - 01:11)

:day: :game: coming up so :nightall:

@  Drucifer : (25 May 2016 - 00:41)

Personally, I would outlaw the three infielders on one side of the field now that it is being use for almost every hitter.

@  Drucifer : (25 May 2016 - 00:39)

Sloppy? Don't of anyone that like sloppy played games. But a player like Murphy does add interest to the game. While not the same as an Ozzie Smith which when he was at the top his game was unbelievable. But how would he shine in today's shifted infield even for a lowly hitting infielder.

@  West Coast M... : (24 May 2016 - 22:33)

I am with you Brian, I hate sloppily played high scoring games and most high scoring games as sloppy. I like pitcher duels any day of the week. Crisp, sharp and short!!

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 22:09)

I think it is my Yankee upbringing with their M&M for liking offense. Even tho I did enjoy the Whitey Ford/Luis Arroyo 1-2 punch.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 22:05)

;bxup;

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 21:29)

I am the opposite there. Give me a tight 1-0 game over a slugfest any day.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 21:09)

Yeah, it hard to tell with :mets:, but I think they may have made changes to the baseball. But even with the pitching staff the :mets: have, I still prefer offensive baseball over the pitching game.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 20:57)

Well, that sucked. Hope Matz is on tomorrow...

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 20:42)

What the hell, are we in Coors???

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 20:28)

I'm in a similar situation, Dru. I'm about to tell my telephone/Direct TV to stuff it. I can get internet from the cable company for MUCH less, and Roku most of what I see on Direct TV. Already have the mlb package for my computer/other platforms, and most of what you get on satelite is available for a small fee at most on Roku. Why spend 300 bucks for local phone/satellite/internet when I can spend less than 100 and get just as much? I've got to check my contract, but if it's close to done, I'm outta there.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 20:25)

:fbomb: Steve Borass and whatever his opinion is. I could not care less what that :fbomb: face has to say. Harvey is not right. Is it because of the high innings total last year? Maybe, I don't know, but they (and he) keep saying that everything is OK. The eye test says otherwise. As does the ERA.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 20:17)

Just order cell phone service from Freedom Pop. Service ain't costing me a dime and refurbished LG Volt is just $99.00. Considering I will make maybe one or two calls a month. It is an ideal service for me.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 20:13)

Unbelievable but ;tc; just outmaneuver an opposing manager!

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 19:58)

Send him down and let Borass moan & groan to media on how the :mets: have no respect for their prize pitcher..

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 19:51)

He needs a reality check, because this whole "I can work trough this" tough guy bullshit is not working, and it's affecting the team to it's detriment.

@  yogib8 : (24 May 2016 - 19:48)

Done

@  West Coast M... : (24 May 2016 - 19:47)

Is Harvey done for the night or is he back out for the 6th?

@  yogib8 : (24 May 2016 - 19:43)

Harvey has walked on water for his baseball career going back to college and probably little league, he doesn't know how to fix whats wrong.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 19:41)

Now will they send him down?

@  West Coast M... : (24 May 2016 - 19:38)

His demeanor on the mind is very telling

@  yogib8 : (24 May 2016 - 19:38)

Rendon looked safe

@  West Coast M... : (24 May 2016 - 19:38)

It has been pathetic for some time now.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 19:35)

Harvey needs to be sent down or put on the DL. This is getting pathetic.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 19:16)

Middle innings killing Harvey once again.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 19:06)

Last four hitters in our lineup tonight batting: .196, .190, .000, .167. Is this May 2015?

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 19:05)

If that was a strike, the pitch earlier that Harvey threw was one.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 19:00)

:Cabrera: :solo: ;hr;

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 19:00)

ASDRU!

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:55)

46 pitches through 3...

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:51)

Maybe Harvey's plan is to have Stras wear himself out on the basepaths so we can hit him?

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:49)

I'll be curious how long the proposed "new strike zone" lasts once implemented. Much like the "let's speed up the game" crapola last year. This year? All the "gains" made given right back. Just enforce the rules in the book.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:47)

Yep, .391 in Vegas means beans. Just look at Campbell's .363 now...

@  METS FANG : (24 May 2016 - 18:46)

and as for the thigh high, so you're telling me he's just trying to get ahead of the curve? ;)

@  METS FANG : (24 May 2016 - 18:46)

Kelly's hot hand haha...

@  METS FANG : (24 May 2016 - 18:45)

so much for Kelly

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:40)

I'd like to see the overhead on that pitch...

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:39)

And, FANG, if they go through with the strike zone changes, pitchers WILL have to deliver pitch after pitch thigh high...

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:38)

Espinoza is 3 for 6 against Harvey in his career. SSS...

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:37)

Wilson Ramos the Met Killer up...

@  METS FANG : (24 May 2016 - 18:31)

everything is elevated. can't deliver pitch after pitch thigh high

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 18:21)

Nope, that was not the :DarkKnight:

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:19)

Touch shaky on the first batter, but a double play and a grounder is a nice finish. 14 pitches in the first inning isn't too bad, either.

@  brian stark : (24 May 2016 - 18:15)

Matt's thinking too much out there.

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 18:06)

:pb:

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 18:03)

;ayr;

@  Drucifer : (24 May 2016 - 17:37)

Will the Dark Knight be pitching tonight or will it be the other guy?
