@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 21:14)

Clippard might have issues out there for sure, but the Diamondbacks really aren't hesitating to sign anyone

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 21:14)

Yeah, I actually just read that. So he's trying to make long-term money but not making the immediate ad payoff

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 20:40)

Yes, Peyton has ownership stakes in two Anheuser-Busch distributorships in Louisiana.

@  mjjm367 : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:20)

Clippard signs with the Dbacks - 2 yrs/$12.25M. A fly ball pitcher, with fading velocity in a homer friendly park. I like Clippard, and his competitive attitude, but good luck with that fit.

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:06)

I work for a similar client and I can tell you, there's a lot of money in that part of the business

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:05)

I could be wrong though. The rumors here are that he has stake in Budweiser distributorships or something along those lines

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:04)

CMF I do work in media analytics, that value depends on a whole lot of variables but I heard he didn't get paid

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:04)

Man, just retire already, and drink many Budweisers

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:04)

I've heard that if Peyton keeps playing it'll be for LA, who apparently is offering something like $25MM

@  thomasam : (08 Feb 2016 - 19:03)

Hey, I'm just catching up on comments (busy weekend/work day) and trying to figure out how Duke--the most popular team in college sports--is contrarian but it looks like i missed a lot of SB talk

@  brian stark : (08 Feb 2016 - 18:51)

I said it before the game, and I stand by it, even though it's disappointing as a fan. If the Panthers were going to lose, I would want it to be to Peyton. I've always liked him, and respected him as a person. He did not have a good game at all, but he got to reap the benefits of one of the best defenses I have ever seen.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 17:25)

Yep, I saw those too. Actually made Eli out to not be so wooden and robotic. Good all around for the Mannings.

@  yogib8 : (08 Feb 2016 - 14:57)

CMF- In Canada did they air the commercials he made 4-5 years ago with Eli.........also humorous

@  yogib8 : (08 Feb 2016 - 14:54)

Like I had said "no skin in the game" I'd be far less supportive of Peyton if it were the Giants out there last night.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 14:34)

He should retire, go out on top and while he can still walk and use his arms!

@  METSFRONTOFFICE : (08 Feb 2016 - 14:14)

Hope he retires now. I wanted him to go out a Champion.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 13:46)

yogi, I was never a Peyton fan but a few years ago when he hosted SNL, he really showed a great comedic side. Kind of changed my opinion a little bit.

@  yogib8 : (08 Feb 2016 - 13:33)

All's well that ends well....Peyton gets another ring, his 200 W and embarks on a career of humorous TV commercials

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 13:01)

Thomas, did I see that you work in media analytics? What's your take on the dollar value of Peyton's mention Budweiser by name, twice???

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:44)

just looked it up - thumb fracture - he's playing through it

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:43)

I wasn't aware of a Klein injury

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:43)

mcdonagh is just a Concussion. so should only be a game or 2.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:40)

McDonagh and Klein out now with injuries?

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:27)

and I was not aware of the 8 loss season. That's absolutely insane!

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:27)

better, yes. but I haven't seen them stand up to any of the elite teams recently and The King just hasn't been sharp

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:13)

Aren't the Rangers playing better of late?

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 12:12)

Fang, if you mean the Caps, yes it is crazy in the NHL today. The Caps have very solid fowards, great coach, a decent defense and Holtby has been lights out this season. Although the record for fewest losses in a season is 8 by the Canadiens in 1978, in a 70 game season. Different league back then.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 11:25)

CMF - is it just me, or is having only 9 losses at the 2/3 mark (season's 2nd intermission? :p) absolutely bonkers?

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:36)

peyton had the first drive for 3 points. After that, all the Denver points felt gifted. fumble-6, long punt return (which what happened there?), tolbert fumble leading to short field, etc. Panthers did everything they could to lose that game, and Peyton just had to stand there and reap the benefits

@  brian stark : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:33)

EVERYONE on the broadcast, even the NFL ref announcer, said it was going to be overturned. There was NOTHING there that demonstrated it was anything BUT a catch. If that isn''t overturned, I say the fumble does not happen for the Sack Six. Water under the bridge now, but that was the most frustrating play of the night. Still, there was the vast majority of the game to go, so they had time to recover. I just think that was the chink in the armor that threw the whole team off, and Denver is the type of team you cannot give any advantage too. That D is ROUGH. Peyton did not have to do anything at all (and frankly, he didn't), just not make TOO many mistakes. Kudos to the Broncos, they deserved it.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:31)

BS, I agree with both of those assessments. Couple early overthrows (a bit too much zip on one sideline pass for example), but that Cotchery "no catch" was a real head scratcher.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:29)

He should hang them up, no question, full stop. BS, I honestly thought that was a catch and was going to be overturned. Not really sure what the NFL did or didn't see on that.

@  brian stark : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:26)

Cam looked off from the start, and I think the total bullshit "no catch" call immediately before the strip 6 flustered the entire offense. No excuses, though, Denver outplayed them in virtualy every phase of the game. I think even the Carolina water boy had a bad game, mixed the Gatorade too weak...

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:26)

personally, I think Manning should hang up the cleats after this year, and if he doesn't want to, Elway should lean heavily on him behind the scene to encourage it.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:09)

And truthfully, Manning looked awful and done. A great Carolina D as well.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:04)

combination of both. All the credit in the world to Denver. Defense played outstanding. But I also think Rivera got outcoached and wasn't able to adjust his game plan mid-game.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 10:02)

Fang do you think it was a lack of adjustments, or that Denver's D was blowing everything up? I saw no adjustments in the 2nd half from Carolina.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:56)

I'm happy they did!! Sorry bs, not trying to rub anyone's face in it, just really happy with the result and how Denver beat just about every prediction.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:56)

they kept running up the middle and standing tall in the pocket. Think back to the first quarter? pass, nothing, up the middle, nothing nothing. nothing. option toss. 20 yards. Then again, nothing nothing nothing. Cam scramble outside, big gain. Yet they kept going back up the middle. Kept standing tall waiting for the big hit. Barely tried any more of those types of plays

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:53)

agreed. coverage was awesome, but not invincible. But Panthers had some pretty bad drops/misses as well all game long. so lets look at the front vs O-Line. O-Line DESTROYED. Pocket collapsing constantly. It was clear Denver's plan was to sell out and go for pressure. So why keep hitting your head against a wall and stand there waiting for it?

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:51)

The front 4 shredded the Carolina O-line. Constant pressure all game. And blanket coverage in the secondary.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:47)

very little misdirection or attempts to get outside the pocket where Cam could use his strengths and a shorter passing game. I thought that was a huge tactical error. Maybe it was the media pressure, maybe not, but I though Carolina played right into Denver's hands.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:46)

that being said, I think Carolina played right into their hands.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:45)

as for Cam vs defense. the defense was lights out

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:45)

you win some, you lose some, but thanks anyway :)

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:45)

thats the magic of bettig

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:38)

Thanks Fang, sorry you lost out on the bets.

@  Canada Mets Fan : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:33)

And Denver 'did nothing special'??? Come on Cam, you're better than that.

@  METS FANG : (08 Feb 2016 - 09:33)

congrats to CMF, condolences to BS - did someone say baseball season?

@  Canada Mets Fan : (07 Feb 2016 - 23:20)

You're right, the Panthers D played great as well. If Peyton had been able to do anything the game would have been over early but the Panthers D kept them in it. A really well played game by both defenses, which I enjoyed watching. Not much room on that field for either offense.
